DMC4 doesn't get higher scores because people know it's an unfinished, broken and unbalanced game. It has the potential to be the best brawler ever made but seeing as Capcom has no interest in letting the developers finish the game, it will stay an unfinished, broken and unbalanced mess forever. It's funny they even bothered with a "Special Edition" because the three additional characters are also unfinished, broken and unbalanced.
Anyway, you messed up one of your own rankings. You rated DMC2 Dante as having the best design, but then put DMC3 first in the summary. You may also want to knock off the random Japanese words as that ♥♥♥♥'s obnoxious.
Now I would rate the games as DMC1 > DMC3 > DMC4 > DMC2 overall. I would've ranked 4 last because it's an unfinished game, but having the experience of replaying DMC2 on DMD fresh in my mind, it's pretty clear that DMC2 is clearly the most broken and unbalanced game in the series.
However, I have to rate the combat systems alone as it's the most important thing in brawlers, therefore: DMC3 > DMC4 > DMC2 > DMC1.
No other game ever made can come close to how good DMC3's combat system is and 4's is not as good due to how limited all the characters are in direct comparison to DMC3 Dante's complete arsenal.
DMC2's combat system is better than DMC1's on paper only, though. This is because you're given many more actions to perform, so the potential for making combos is much higher. The problem is... mastering that combat system takes a lot of patience as the game is much slower, combat mechanics can be frustrating to deal with, etc. etc. If DMC2 was a bit more polished, you'd have a great game for combos, but sadly it's severely dragged down by a tank-like feel, as canceling moves into one another is almost impossible with Dante & Lucia, whereas Trish can simultaneously make the combat more versatile and yet more annoying. This would require a more in-depth analysis, but the point is, DMC2's combat is only better than 1's on combo potential alone, because it takes a lot of effort and patience to master it and not necessarily in a good way...
As for Dante's design: DMC2 > DMC1. The other two have costumes so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ugly they need not apply.
Devil Trigger forms: DMC2 > DMC1 > DMC3 = DMC4. I don't feel like ranking them individually but let it be known I would rank DMC4 Dante's DT form last. As for the best, I can't rank DMC2's DT forms separately as they're all equally great, both for Dante and Lucia, with special note that in her Secretary costume, her DT form features a different head and purple feathers.
I refuse to include DmC as it's not part of the series so the game invalidates itself.
Character Designs: DMC1 > DMC2 > DMC4 > DMC3 > DmC
DT: DMC1 > DMC2 > DMC3 > DMC4 > DmC
DMC2 - Don't need to explain. It's bad. Just bad. The atmosphere isn't as good as its predecessor and the combat is pure crap. While I HATE DmC more as a whole, this is a worse game.
DmC - ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bosses, complete and total lack of understanding of what made DMC combat good in the first place, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemies that can be perma stunlocked with one move from the little shuriken angel weapon. Oh and Vergil plays awfully. Most of the enemies aren't fun. Most of the bosses aren't fun. The story is cringey, the characters are cringey. Oh yeah, they tried to be better than DMC by adding story but they forgot that you actually need an iota of talent to do that. Nvm the character butchering they did. Mundus is the devil, he doesn't need a reason to be evil, we all know the story of the devil. Vergil was incredibly lame and Dante... he was okay. He's not as bad by the end. I think NT went a little out of their way to piss on fans of the original though and he's usually the conduit through which they do that so he does annoy me a little.
In any case simple isn't bad and DmC didn't understand that.
DMC 1 - I'm still bad at this game to this day. The moves are really limited and more about the tactical approach than reflexes or combos or even canceling animations.
I absolutely hate Nightmare but I think the other bosses are fine. DMC3 was my first game so it's difficult for me to go backwards and try to understand the logic of the design.
I suppose if I give it enough time I'll enjoy the combat more as I understand the intricacies but I've never given it enough time.
The atmosphere is fantastic and I love all of the level design. Only DMC3 managed to capture a fraction of that.
DMC 4 - I'm not gonna say I hate the combat but damn... there are so many enemies that made me pull my hair out. I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't very good at the game back then. For whatever reason when I first played all of the DMC games I had a very difficult time understanding I-frames and I just gave up trying. Needless to say, because of that, DMD mode was a total nightmare.
I hated a lot of the enemies with a passion. I hate Frosts, Assaults, Mephisto's, and Fausts.
In DMD mode they were just stupid aggressive. The pressure would get to me and I'd press the wrong button and instead of using Skystar after switching to trickster, I'd use aerial rave and get a quarter of my health melted.
I did learn the royal guard timing for those electric enemies thankfully.
DMD with Dante felt a little too hectic for me though. I can do a little jump cancelling but I can't do it like the pro's where they can just juggle perfectly and then switch to Trickster and dodge and go right back in and continue. I felt with all the annoying enemy types here that more than ever, in a DMD mode I didn't have time to breathe.
Maybe I'll replay it now that I suck less as a whole with DMC games. I think now I have the right mindset to learn more and be able to appreciate the game better.
Nonetheless I love the variety in the characters in SE.
DMC 3 - For whatever reason I found this easier to wrap my head around then DMC4. Maybe because you can only pick one style and two weapons at a time. The enemies are designed for the most part to be handled by most styles so all you have to do is master one. My favorite is RoyalGuard.
I still can't jump cancel like crazy but I can string together at least two helm breakers and inifinitely use killer bee and the shotgun on enemies to quite the devastating effect.
Also, since you can't rely on Trickster unless you pick it, I was able to focus on understanding the basic i-frames first.
Besides Geryon and Arkham which I think are really lame bosses I love most of the bosses. Although Dopplerganger is too easy.
Vergil is easily my favorite boss. All three iterations. Since I primarily use Royal Guard and Trickster, it really gives you a chance to use them really stylishly.
Maybe because the combat is more focused and the abilities of Dante are limited at any given time it's easier and more enjoyable for me. Or maybe too many of the enemies in DMC4 are legitimately annoying bastards.
------------------------------------------------
Dante's design
DmC - He looks like a frat boy douchebag. He acts like one too. It doesn't translate. Original Dante is obviously tongue and cheek about how "cool" he is.
DmC Dante is actually trying to be cool with all the liquor and hookers and they're like ermagerd look he's such a rebel.
Ugh. Maximum cringe.
DMC 3 - I don't hate this design at all but I just like the other designs more.
DMC4 - It's a little odd with the design on the pants but it doesn't bug me too much.
DMC1 - It looks kinda morel ike a proper demon hunters attire.
DMC2 - This is easily Dante's most badass design.
---------------------------------------------------
Devil Trigger
DMC 3 - I'm sorry, I know this was made by that awesome Shin Megami Tensei artist but I feel like they don't quite fit in DMC.
DMC 1 - We barely ever see them.
DMC 4 - It's finally starting to look like a corrupted version of Dante, which is what you'd expect of a demon form.
DMC2 - Both Devil Triggers look like fallen angel versions of Dante, they finally look how they're supposed to. I suppose that means that his Devil Trigger is constantly evolving and getting stronger over the years.
#5 Devil May Cry 2
It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Nice ideas here and there, but with one of the worst executions I have ever seen. At least I can laught at it. No taunts.
#4 DmC Devil May Cry (DmC Devil May Cry Definitive Edition)
♥♥♥♥ that game, and ♥♥♥♥ everything the devs said and did before/after launch. Only reason it's higher than 2 is, that it is a functional game. Also way too easy. GMD is easier than DMC3 very hard. Missing a truckload of moves from 4 and 3, despite having 5 meele and 3 range weapons. Almost no new moves, if any. No styles, No taunts.
#3 Devil May Cry
Extremely good and short high quality game with a lot of replayability. 3rd place because I enjoy combat in 3 and 4 more. Nice little story.
#2 Devil May Cry 4 (Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition)
Combat is awesome. Enemy design is pretty bad at points, and the fact that it is unfinished keeps it from first place too. Bloody Palace has a timer, which sucks.
Anyway, the combat is awesome, which always keeps me coming back to it.
#1 Devil May Cry 3
Combat little bit more limited than 4, but still extremely good. Replayability pretty high. Good level design. Mostly good enemy design. Awesome bosses. A actually good story. Nevan.
Dante's Design:
#5 DmC Devil May Cry

#4 Devil May Cry 3
Not a big fan of his coat in that one. Always choose the shirtless skin when playing.
#3 Devil May Cry 4
I like it, except for the cowboy boots.
#2 Devil May Cry
Simple and memorable.
#1 Devil May Cry 2
His best design yet
Devil Trigger:
#8 DmC Devil May Cry
-boring looking
-broken beyond believe in the standard edition.
#7 Devil May Cry 2 Dante
It's design is stupid. But hey, at least you can customize it.
#6 Devil May Cry 2 Lucia
Love the visual design, don't like its moveset.
#5 Devil May Cry 4 Dante
A bit boring looking. It does what it is supposed to do, but it visualy could just use more umfph.
#4 Vergil
fits the character. Head looks a bit strange though.
#3 Devil May Cry 4 Nero
mechanically pretty good. Basically a JoJo stand.
#2 Devil May Cry
Love it. Looks great and the Blue Lightning is pretty sick.
#1 Devil May Cry 3
SMT looking ass DT's are great, plus the changes to it's design depending on the weapon you choose to take with you are great.
