If you're going for highest rank, DMC 3 without a doubt.

Playing DMD in DMC1 on NG+ isn't AS tough, except for the bosses.

True. Though if you dont know how nightmares orbs work you can screw yourself for the whole run.

Nightmare orbs?

You actually can grind orbs in DMC1 you just need to get some orbs from enemies and save your game, loading will put you back at the start of your current level but you'll have kept the orbs you got.

That being said Red orbs won't help you too much in DMC1's DMD, the shop doesn't let you buy
a cheap amount of items, only 1 vital star and 1 untouchable at a time. if you want more you would need to save them from picking them up from previous difficulties. and those ones you saved you would want to keep for late game bosses, so you would do most of the game without the items anyway.

DMC3 is more challenging on DMD and it's not even close for me.

I'd vote for DMC3. DMC1 allows you to rack up untouchables, which doesn't take long considering you get 5 per playthrough, and it takes ~2 hours to beat the game.

If we ignore items, then I have no idea. Both games are far too difficult for me to beat without them.

In terms of getting the achievements I would say DMC3 is going to be easier then DMC1, since this is DMC3SE, and you unlock the super coustmes after Very hard mode, which make DMD far more manageable. Now if you make it like the orginal DMC3 with yellow orbs and no supers coustems then yes DMC3's DMD is much harder.

Nightmare orbs?
The things you hit to kill nightmare. If you break them on one fight they stay broken for all his fights. The more broke they are the less damage you do and the more attacks he can do

Holy... I don't remember any of this. It's been way too long since I played this game.

DMC 1 without a doubt.
Can't revive just where you die, far less combos, bad platforming, not easy to grind orbs, tougher bosses, horrendous camera...

I beat DMC 3 on DMD and for the most part I found it kinda easy even without using objects at all, but DMC 1 on DMD? Jeez, I'm stucked in almost every mission

DMC1 by default. DMC2 if you're going for S ranks.

If you are talking about simply completing the game on DMD, then it's 3 > 2 > 1 > 5 > 4.

If you are talking about getting S ranks, I'd say about the same. Maybe 2 is harder to get all S ranks than 3 actually, but I am not certain.

If you are talking about getting perfect S ranks, meaning Special Bonus in DMC 1 and S ranks in every category without getting hit in the other games, then it would be 3 > 4 > 5 > 1. The reason why DMC2 is not in the last ranking is because it is impossible to get an S in every category in some missions on DMD in that game.

DMC2 is the hardest one to get S ranks in. Some missions are practically impossible.

Whaat? In 3 you can play in gold orb mode, that alone makes it way easier than, let's say, 1. Also I would say you are less punished for being hit. In 1 I remember being out with 2 or 3 hits.
