Is DMC1 and 2 skippable?
I'm just playing these to get to dmc v. DMC 1 is kicking my ass, mainly because of the lives system and the lack of checkpoints. Not to mention the camera isn't designed for an action game at all. I can tell I'm not really going to enjoy it, should I just watch the cutscenes on youtube and skip to dmc3?

Yes you can, i personally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate 1 and 2 even tho i played 1 i could not stand 2. Also you can catch up to the story in dmcv its an option in the main menu

They fixed the camera in 3, but if 1 is too difficult for you, you probably won't enjoy 3 much either.

Coming from somebody who loves the first game and loves 3 even more. No. I know it's quite difficult and the camera is pretty ass. But I think you should beat it just for the satisfaction of beating a challenging game. Although, since 3 is a prequel, you might wanna play that first and then return to the first once you're done (which is what I did initially)

i do not recommand skipping DMC1 , it's very short anyway and can be completed within 3 hours but it adds up much to the lore especially for those who started playing DMC series with the 5th installement and you will find many things that i consider early easter eggs for newcomers like having a look at the early versions of V's 3 companions and some memorable moments in the game that you won't find in most of the story recaps out htere that i don't want to spoil :lunar2019piginablanket:

but you should start with dmc3 first since it's the first game in the timeline
I didn't like 1 when i played it as a kid, because its so hard. Now i like it more than 3 lmao.

Do not skip 1. 2 is skippable but I'd say play some of it anyway just to see why it's skippable. If you say 1 is too hard you won't like 3 as it's considerably harder. Maybe you should've done some research into this series because this series is known for being difficult minus the second game and the fifth which I find even easier due to getting gold orbs simply for starting it up and they aren't as hard to find.

Bottom line is git gud. I thought it was hard at first too but I kept playing anyway and I ended up really enjoying it. I got better even. Believe me I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucked, I died so much in the beginning I was offered easy mode before I even got to the first boss. So I get where you're coming from. My advice again is to keep going.

I sometimes feel like the first game is more difficult on certain dmd bosses. The randomness in 1 not knowing where to dodge gets me killed a lot.
I've almost cleared very hard as Dante (dmc3) and I wouldn't call it a breeze but, it's not frustrating and unfair like 1's bosses.

besides nightmare, I feel like the bosses in 1 are more fair, but maybe thats just personal preference. (really don't like nightmare lol)

1 is necessary. If you can’t beat 1, then 3 is going to kick you down harder. 2 never existed as far as anyone says.

Skipping DMC1 is a crime against humanity

Here's my opinion.

You shouldn't skip DMC 1, it may not be the best game out there, but it sure has a good story and depth to it and it's worth a play.

As for DMC 2, skip Dante, just play Lucia. Dante's combat and levels feel just off. It's good if you look at it as a non DMC game, similar to how you should look at DmC: DmC, then yea, it's a decent-ish game. Lucia's parts on the other hand feel much more fluid and better. She just feels better to play than Dante, that's why I do occasionally boot DMC 2 and dome some Bloody Palace with her. She's the true main character of DMC 2.

You will get the whole story of DMC 2 just by playing as Lucia, and she only has 13 missions, tho she does have 1 underwater level, which can be a tad tedious, but it's still better to play as her than as Dante.

On a similar boat here, except the only huge annoyance for me is the camera. The combat system is ok, atmosphere reminds me a bit of the Ninja Gaiden reboot(which is nice), but I like being able to see the things I'm fighting/shooting at, very often I'm just locking on enemies and spamming shots while having no idea what I'm shooting at.

Well im curently playing DMC 2 mainly of that Crowbcat video [butchered his name] I stoped 2 minutes in just to play it, i guess you could play it if you never played others or want to get into them since, its easy as ♥♥♥♥ so far.

No.If you get into a series and already looking into skipping stuff, that series is probably not for you.
DMC1 is the first of its kind, always good to see where we started from.
DMC2 is not good, but is made out to be the worst game to ever developed.People need to stop with the blind hate for it.Hell people who probably haven't played it are probably advising you to skip it.
