I actually have darksiders 2 but never played it. Gonna try that one thanks.
The stuff the other people mentioned are a lot more fast paced and flashier, and I would recommend all of them as well in each of their own ways.
Neir Automata has an online component though, but it's just with seeing dead bodies and being able to gather some money/temp buffs from them or have a temporary AI ally; not very useful. Dark Souls is also partially online, with invasions or co-op or messages left by other people, so you lose a bit of the experience playing offline. Neither are required though.
If I had to pick one, I'd go for Nier Automata if you really want to experience an engrossing story. Just be sure to pickup the FAR mod, as the game has technical issues and never received a patch from SE despite the many complaints over the last year.
