Help
If anyone besides me owns Dreamfall retail and is able to run it with Windows 10 let me know please. Cause after installing it it pops some antipiracy program i believe and after that my windows restarts and never starts simply giving the error D:/Winows/System32/Logfiles/Srt/SrtTrail.txt
So basically i troubleshooted and had to reinstall my windows basically deleting over 700GB of steam data. So if anyone owns the retail version and is able to run the game please let me know cause i tried it now 2 times and it simply crashes my Windows10.

By "retail version" do you mean "the CD version?" As in, not the version you get by buying it through Steam?

I ask because I do, in fact, own the CD version, so I can try this out and see what I find. (I repurchased it through Steam as part of a bundle while I was buying the third game, and that version I can confirm runs fine in Windows 10 - I just recently finished playing through the whole series using Steam versions.)

But if it's the CD version you need help with, I'll see what I can do.

Yep by retail i mean the cd/dvd version which you can install by the disc, not an digital copy.

You didn't need to reinstall Windows, just disable driver signature check and uninstall StarForce protection with protect.exe. I actually do remember when this StarForce piece of ♥♥♥♥ started appearing on games, and we all said "this thing will turn around and bite our ass one day." Well, we were right and you and plenty of others are a proof. I just hope authors of that crap died from flet feet. Anyway, to run retail version today you just need to install last patch 1.64 to Dreamfall, it removes the protection completely.

You are right about the driver signature it worked. After i bought an new Windows10 dvd for the hopes it repairs my computer from the disc and boots it didnt. Windows 10 is simply garbage for gamers. But thanks for the link i got the game now running.

You my friend are a damn HERO!! Seriously I just had the same problem trying the game for the first time and I really thought my PC was over and everything. You saved my life for real. Sorry if that's corny and I don't know if you're gonna read this that many years later, but I hope you do. Because I'm sort of a dummy and I'd still need some help with one thing: How exactly do I uninstall that StarForce antipiracy thing? I'm afraid I can't figure it out. Or is it automatically gone when I uninstall the game itself? Again I'm so SO DAMN thankful and I hope you could help me out.

Hi Nuri, I'm always around..That's what I talked about all these years ago, there is the protect.exe app which should be part of the game installation I believe and when you run it, you get multiple choices including removing that ulcer completely. Here's the screenshot:

Oh yeah, lovely StarForce still hunts good gamers, while those who pirated their games never heard of it...shame, shame, I still wish extremely painful hemorrhoids to everyone who ever worked on that StarForce thing.

Thank you for the reply. It appears that the app is not running on Windows 10 (I remember having tried that, before asking for help in this thread) but anyway... Meanwhile I had solved it by downloading some zip-archive including the utility to remove StarForce and took a deep dive in the game already. Still big thanks for your support!

In case anyone is curious on that StarForce removing utility I found:
https://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/

Funny enough, the website in the link seems to be from the Star Force company itself.

That's right, you can notice the screenshot of the utility I linked for you is also from their site. I should mention you can download it there too. Even them realized what they made, in the end.
Anyway, good luck and good times with the game.
