Because it is important to not allow weapons to look like a entirely different weapon. Can you imagine Maul getting a skin that makes it look nothing like a Maul? What happens when we get heavy armor that looks like medium or even light armor? It's a problem caused by carelessness and can be solved by not being careless. It doesn't take a genius to understand making a weapon like the morningstar look like something that does much less damage than what a morningstar can do is a VERY bad idea.

how many times has it happened to you? at what point is it not the skin's fault but your own? k/d doesn't even matter in this game unless you hyperfixate on it, quit being a wet blanket because you can't tell a thin stick apart from one with spikes on it

I held such wooden Evening Star with spiked club skin, also it was renforced with metal rings.
At the same event I held a non historical Wooden Hammer of the same length (much longer than Wooden Maul in game).

Surprisingly, Evening Star felt much heavier and intimidating. I think it "will keel".
