basically it's a skill-based game, but you can enjoy it even if you don't want to be a competitive player, there are many gamemodes frontlines and invasion for a massive battlefield or community servers for 1v1 duels or Skirmish mode where 2 small teams of 5 players or less against each other.. I'd say why not if you are interested.

No not for a new player, you'd be much better off getting Chivalry 2.
Skill ceiling for this game is very high and it's populated by hardcore player's who have mastered and exploited it, I'm 260 hours in and still can't do some of the more ludicrous movements.

I have 1200 and I don't know all the moves nor do I try to do them, very likely you'll beat me in a duel. Besides, it's not all about making ridiculous moves, it's about having fun

It's worth the frustration if you like this sort of genre, wont fine anything else more rewarding once you get a kill especially on someone who is better than you. I find getting killed is rewarding also. I've cussed and laughed more times at this game than any other game by a long shot, but still is more fun than any game out there in my opinion. It is my favorite game of all time. I hope it gets updated with new customization options and game modes, and even offline game modes.
