I agree, this would be a logical step forward.
+ in melee combat of any time, swinging weapons was extremely rare, warriors of all kind usually stabbed to penetrate the clothes/armour and inflict lethal wounds that could not heal up.
I tried swining a two-hander sword as hard as I could against a friend wearing heavy plate armour and an other chainmail, I could not penetrate it even nor did it knock him down and I am a pretty tall and strong dude.
It's unrealistic, I dislike the way they made the armoud, it only increases your HP bar but that's about it. So even an archer could kill someone wearing chain or plate armour in this game as well as someone with a dagger being able to kill armoured targets.
It's just a pile of bullocks.
Before I used shields but now they nerfed them down so you can't hold them up anymore for more than 2 seconds, this ruined it for me completely giving all these exploiters even more power.

You are correct in real combat slashing weapons were rarely used against armored targets due to being ineffective thus resorting to piercing and blunt weaponry but it's a video game it would be very boring if we all used long polearms

As I said this is a video game not a medieval combat simulator compromises have to be made for the game to be enjoyable and playable

This game isn't mean to be realistic in the slightest it wouldn't be fun if you couldn't kill anyone unless you're using blunt weapons because they're all wearing plate armor

Shields are stronger than they ever have been they act active protection against projectiles meaning that the shield can be on your back or just in your hand while you're not parrying and still stop projectiles from hitting you
You also have a shield wall which you can activate by hold R with the Heater Kite and Round shields
The Targe and Buckler are thrown if you hold R
All shields also have better stamina stats allowing one handers to match two handers in the stamina game as well as having a bigger parrying window
Chivalry had issues with its combat system. Things like reverse overheads and legitimately broken swing manipulation were fully viable, let alone just being possible. From the start, Mordhau sought to fix these issues - even from pre-release footage, it's specifically advertised that things like the reverse overhead was removed.
Mordhau, especially with it's 20 odd updates, has pretty much eliminated anything that might actually be considered broken. Even things like wessexs and stab drags which, while a bit janky, were nowhere's near Chivalry's jank, have had their effectiveness significantly reduced. Strict turn caps, the addition of chambering, glancing blows, release delay for insiders, and several other mechanics all aim to prevent the game from ever actually becoming centered around abusing its mechanics.
With this in mind, how is the game broken? The swing manipulation system is far from an exploit - it's in the official tutorial of the game, and the devs were competitive chiv players. Pretty anything that goes against the core values the devs intended for the game has been either removed or reduced in effectiveness to the point of unviability.
There seriously just isn't an argument to be made here.
No this is not bait, this is my opinion and many other players opinion as well.
Going around to call everything you disagree with bait seems pretty immature and contra-productive.
Have a good day.
Yes, really. That is how the game works, period. There is no realism. It's a game about reading feints and performing perfect parries. If you can't do that, Mordhau isn't for you.
It's not beginner friendly because they don't want it to be. They will not add held block or give everyone Dodge or whatever. They will not make it any easier, ever. That's not what this game is about. People like you and me are not welcome in that game.
just abuse the meta and exploit the game to get an unfair advantage bruh
People will complain that drags are not realistic, but neither is parrying an arrow with a sword, or slashing through steel armour, or even not tripping on bodies or not sliding on mud laden battlefields, or running into battle half naked with mauls, or being able to move side to side shooting a longbow with ease, or using one handed weapons without a shield on a battlefield, or fighting by yourself and not in formations, or everyone using heavy plate like the only people on battlefields were knights, or reloading a catapult by yourself and shooting multiple boulders per minute. You get the point?
It's a game, even though it might have authentic weapons/armour, and the architecture is authentic or at the very least believable. It's still not the real thing, and it may never be for the next 50 years or more. The game never claims to be historically accurate, or true to life battlefields and I find it silly that there are those who would complain on the realism about one aspect but seem to overlook everything else previously said.
Bottom line is, drags might not be realistic, but it's the combat system you are presented with. If you don't like it, either learn to love it or leave it. If you are looking for the most realistic/authentic medieval experience on a battlefield, join a real medieval group either of larper's or the more sport sparring types and stop trying to look for your fix in a game, especially one that never claimed to be the most authentic experience to begin with.
