Armor on an archer?
Do I need armor when I'm playing an archer? I've had medium armor and got one shot by a recurve before, and even with heavy I'm no match for a longbow. So is it even worth it?

i use 3/3/1? or 2/3/2 recurve+ warhammer, something like that

Doesn't armor go with increments of three, except for the 1 point legs? How can you have 2/3/2?

Huntsman perk makes armor obsolete when you're shooting at other ranged users.

the old system only had 16 loadout points, so it was 0 (naked), 1 (light), 2 (medium), or 3 (heavy) it still takes prevalence over 0/3/6/9 (0/1/3/6 for legs) due to it being used for so long, and 123 being easier to count to/keep track of

No because it reduces your speed. That's the thing with the Cleaver, lightning fast if you get in first. Personally, I love cleavage. :) <3

You usually can't be one shot by a recurve in medium armor, even if he has huntsman. He'd need a headshot for that.

But regardless, armor isn't very useful against most other archers. Still, I'd say it's pretty useful to have on a crossbow or recurve build, since you'll inevitably encounter melee units who will sneak up on you and decapitate you if you don't have anything on. I usually use medium armor on crossbow and recurve builds, with quite a few points to spare.

Try 1/2/1 armor setup, gives you enough protection in case you get in a melee fight without slowing you down too much and leaves plenty of spare points.

You will have to use cover and always stay on the move to deal with other archers, Huntsman perk by design makes your archer armor useless so don't depend on it.

If using Longbow, with the Tank/Giant perk you can go 0/2/0 (or 0/2/1 if you don't mind Pavise) with Short Sword + Pavise + Huntsman Perk to resist 2 longbow shots to the chest, but you'd be losing movement speed and the Ranger perk.

Personally, I go 0/1/2 (or 1/1/0) with Short Sword + Pavise + Huntsman and Ranger perk.

With Recurve I just go full 3/3/2 with short sword, pavise and both archer perks

I'm not gonna lie this one took me by surprise. Are you sure you'll be surviving two longbow shots to the chest though, T3 armor doesn't prevent a huntsman shot as far as I remember, so I don't know why tank would.

I go full armour + tank. Huntsman is ridiculous. I'm fairly sure longbow headshots still one shot me but generally my survive-ability as an archer is quite high with this setup. It's a fun class to play.
2/3/2, crossbow, warhammer, pavise. Huntsman, supplied. Who cares about ranger when you can accurately snap fire so you never actually aim and move except in small steps anyway with the crossbow. The ability to instantly fire the crossbow makes it a viable threat in close quarters at least in invasion and frontline, and if you are too close to the enemy you go melee and fight. The armor and warhammer also let you directly step in to help in melee in general. Supplied can be traded out for any other perk, you don't generally shoot that many crossbow bolts that fast. I only really use supplied to get extra pavise shields faster to block paths and sometimes drop for other players, since you can drop (not place) and still get more from the ammo box.
