SOLVED: Pak files get corrupted at random

Hello everyone!

I recently got a problem that occurs totally at random, once I enter a server. I get the message that my pak files are corrupted and that I am supposed to check the launcher.

Neither does verifying via steam lead to any repairs (as all files are supposedly correct) nor does deleting the entier pak file folder (and then verifying via steam to redownload it) lead to any change. (I read that as a supposed fix somewhere, but that didn't work for me, neither did searching manually for files that arent supposed to be there as all are pak files).
I also deleted and reinstalled the game, but that also didn't help at all.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for that issue?
As I said it happens completely randomly, sometimes I can spend hours in game without an issue, then again it crashes 3 times in a row until I give up.

SOLUTION EDIT:

So it turned out it was actually an hardware problem in my specific case. One of my RAM sticks (for lack of a better english word?) was broken, which lead to data getting corrupted. I got both sticks swapped and since then Mordhau didnt crash once (for more than a month now).

I recommend to everyone with the same problem to let their hardware get checked if you can or to do it themselves.

I hope this solution gets noticed by everyone who commented with the same issue.

I'd suggest going to their Discord server and talking to people in the tech support channel. They're very knowledgeable with these kinds of things.

YUP, downloaded game and decided id give it a try again, then it tells me PAK files are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. what a joke, that's the sign i need to not touch this game again lmao. that and the moderators of this discussion deleted my post when i mentioned it.

This issue doesn't affect all the players. Try verifying the files.

I can play the game just fine. Something's wrong on your end.

Unconstructive posts are deleted all the time. You're probably under the assumption that the moderators are always wrong because your post was deleted. Obviously Void isn't deleting posts that he disagrees with as this post is still up, if yours was similar to this one, I'm assuming you not only said that you had this issue, but you either started getting angry in the post at unrelated things, or started spreading misinformation, like you're doing now.

Geach3D is really good about helping people with issues with the game. They've helped me with internet issues, concerning Mordhau, in the past. There's also other players who try to help resolve issues with the game if they've encountered the issue before themselves.

Geach3D is really good about helping people with issues with the game. They've helped me with internet issues, concerning Mordhau, in the past. There's also other players who try to help resolve issues with the game if they've encountered the issue before themselves.

hey wise guy, if the files are corrupting for multiple people, it becomes a bug with the game, not individuals. there is literally nothing wrong with my system, and not a single other game out of dozens has any corrupted files, only this one. use your head, just because it doesnt happen to you doesnt mean it doesnt exist. dont be ignorant man.

Yeah, and out of the 700 games that I have, not one of them is corrupted either, which includes Mordhau. Go to the tech support channel and see what may be causing it. You have no intention on getting it fixed and are just here to spread misinformation, claiming the game is broken.

Jeez fellas, I didnt expect so spark such a controversy here. ^^
Bugs can happen totally at random, no matter what game or setup, it might even be an external cause like a simple Windows update that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything up, who knows? It sucks but it's better to search for a solution rather than to cry about it being there.

I'm allready on the offcial disdord and trying out different solutions that were already proposed at the moment. But it all takes some time as the bug happens randomly. I could play 1-2 hours today until it killed my game again. (My attempt this time was to delete the modin folder)
I'll update this post once I find a solution that works for me. :)

Meanwhile if anyone got an idea how to fix this feel free to post it here.

It seems to be a common issue with Unreal Engine. One of the supposed fixes is to delete the game cache data, but if you plan on doing that, I recommend saving your characters.
( C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mordhau\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\game.ini )
You can also quickly get to the local appdata by using the run command (windows + R) and typing %localappdata%

It's suggested to delete the entire game cache folder, referenced from here: https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/43192/corrupted-index-in-pak-file-game-crashes-when-trying-to-open

But as I said, backup your characters first before you delete anything.

I just tried that, still had my characters but unfortunately it didnt help, two matches in and I got the error message again :/

Same here. After verify, game runned for like hour or so and then it happened again. After reinstal same. Yesterday it was ok, but today its unplayable. Over and over again. PAK corrupted.

I've been getting this msg too for 5 months, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sickening and so cancerous.
I've been looking inside all kinds of folders pak files etc everything inside the game folder and on the %appdata% folder, i'm still trying i really hope someone finds a fix soon, not even hardrestteing my pc worked

sorry for the toxicity but it's just so annoying and twice as hard to level up. I really hope you find a solution, best of luck man!
