Either your internet is being slow currently or you are using a harddrive to store the game. Steam downloads are compressed and if your drive speed is really slow then it will greatly affect your effective download speed.

I use an ssd, and my connection is very fast.
Actually, it only happens with the download of this game. The rest of the games on steam download are at full speed.

Check resource monitor. Check disk usage under it. If your SSD doesn't have enough space free on it Steam is likely staging your download on a slower drive. Has happened to me before.
Also check your CPU usage and see if that is bottlenecking.

No problems found, apart from the slow download of Mordhau. Again, with other titles I don't have this problem.

Could be your hard drive, as Steam doesn't just download the entire game, then write it to the hard drive. It will download a little, then write, then download a little more, then write. There are plenty of games that have this issue on Steam, and without being able to look at the source code for the game, there's no real way to know. The most notable is probably PayDay 2, which writes extremely slowly.

I think that if the problem only occurs with this game, then it means that the problem is not with my hard drive, but with the download server.

There has been a confirmed bug with how the structure of the game files create an issue with how Steam handles/processes the update. Next patch will also have the same issue, but the process of applying the patch should restructure things so that subsequent hotfixes/patches will be much faster.

I knew it was a bug, and that it wasn't a problem with my hardware

Technically how long it took varied considerably based on players hardware, for most players it took minutes to apply these patches, but depending on certain hardware, it could take several hours.

This is due to how Steam applies these incremental patches, and that the structure of Mordhau's game files exacerbated this issue. The update process requires a lot of HDD activity as well as CPU activity to apply the downloaded update files to the game files, so if the hardware was struggling, or it was having to transfer between multiple disk drives (if the Steam app is installed on a different drive than the game is), then you were more likely to encounter really long update times.

It was never an issue of download speeds, it was an issue of applying the update once downloaded.

27/12/20 And I am having this problem as well. SSD 147 MB/S Download speed, Have downloaded other titles fast today. For some reason Mordhau is just being unusually slow going down as far as kilobytes a second.

Same here.

200mbps fiber internet connection using a NVME SSD to download the game but still I'm taking hours to finish it

ALL other games are absolute normal

Check resource monitor while it's downloading. Check the disk tab and make sure Steam isn't staging the download on another drive. That has happened to me before when my NVME was too full.

legit spikes to 6mb and then drops to 600kbs, when on other games it's 45mbs avg
