What exactly is polehammer good for?

I've found it's quite effective at hitting people. You sort of swing it and thrust it at people and it hurts them.

They aren't a polehammer though. Polehammers have all of the bits. And they look badass. They also have significant cronch and decent reach. I honestly don't know what more you want. Poleaxe goes boop on schnozzwangles.

It's a maul on a extendable stick.

Two hit kills anywhere on level 3 armor with long range. Halberd has 3 hit kills and maul is short range. It just acts as a middle ground.
