Scythes deal sky high damage to zero and rank 1 armor, but hit like a pool noodle to anything else.
The normal scythe would essentially be used as a two handed war pick, you would want to be doing large downward stabs. The war scythe has its blade rotated and it essentially becomes a billhook like weapon.
And a really crappy one at that. Scythes, even converted ones, are terrible weapons. But I guess there would be no harm in including it.
And as such, fell out of favour of anything but peasant-levies and part-time soldiers because even moderate armour shut them down.
I guess that could be debated. Greatest problem I see with converted (not purpose-built Warscythes) would be that the blade is probably pretty crappy. Meant to cut grain and not people. If it was a truly viable battlefield weapon it wouldve been used more often than it did.
