Some alternate grips also specialize in certain attacks, like the Longsword's Mordhau grip, which is better against armor.
It swaps the weapon into parry mode. You'll be able to block arrows, bolts, rocks, cannonballs. You name it!
you gotta realize that cosmetics like the plumed helmet are worth in the thousands, while the first armor slots and every weapon are cheap as hell, to allow you to make proper starting builds and yet still have something to work towards when you already have a bunch of stuff.
Others are a complete joke. The title drop "Mordhau" grip for example, is pathetic, and only good for praying for slower, shorter, headshot swings against tier 3 helmets, otherwise don't bother with it. The torso damage only goes from 37/34 to 41/40, yeeeeesh.
"Better against armor!" I mean, if you want to be an overly literal exact words snake oil salesman, sure.
It's so sad when I see someone clearly better at the game than me switch to the Mordhau grip to fight my heavy armor guys, and it ends up letting me beat them when sticking with the pointy end would have clearly finished me off.
