Why is the messer so good?

I don't get it. This sword is about as average as they come, and yet I have noticed many people owning with it, and seem to have pretty good runs myself once I pick it up. What gives? It doesnt make any sense. It doesnt have the versatility of a stab/swing. Its not very fast, long, or powerful. It doesnt seem to have any redeeming qualities really and yet I see people facerolling with it.

And for that matter, I seem to notice the same thing with the longsword, recently put it on a bloodlust build and I notice I can 1vx like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Anyone understand whats with these swords?

Those two are very fast and are capable of such good accels & drags they are borderline broken

Players have mastered Accels and Drags. Combine them with feints and you can literally prolong an attack 3x longer than it normally would, or make it twice as fast. This essentially makes every attack in the game have 6 variants. Good luck.

Messer is 2HTK on 2-armor, which is the most prevalent armor on the field. Great for flanks, garbage for teamfights.

Hybrid Hander with Amazing drags and accels deceptive reach and jank one handed animations it's easily one of the stronger weapons in the game

It have strange accels animation, therefore hard to read mixes drags and accels.

The messer has a very good accel, especially when used 1H, and owning with it makes you look badass.
Just yesterday I created a new Messer loadout and it was enjoyable. Of course it's far from being OP.
