Backend Error Fix
In a different thread they have posted a fix.

Press the "~" key and type disconnect.

This worked for me and I hope it does for anyone reading.

Upon a 5 minute load screen finishing I receive an error message saying "failed to connect to backend service"
I am not load u anything after starting the game. I have no access to server list, character editing, etc after the 17 patch. I have no idea what is causing it.

For context I have 3 other people on the same network that the game works nearly fine for. This leaves me to believe it is not a network error but an issue on my computer or on their end with my connection. I have tried verifying the files through steam and reinstalling already. I gave tried disabling my anti virus and windows defender is turned off for it.

I have no mods for the game at all and I am running on a completely capable system with a Ryzen processor at 1650 super and 32 gb of ram on windows 10.

Any input is helpful.

The one that worked for me was bringing up console commands through the "~" key and typing disconnect. It worked after that.

I found a fix - at least it worked for me. I had exactly the same problem. I stopped my antivirus, launched the game and then WHILE the game was running, I restarted the antivirus. That made it prompt for internet access, and once I allowed it through, it worked perfectly fine. 👍

turns out for me that my firewall bullgaurd was taking a while to automatically allow the game. after alot of resets of the game it finally registered and im now able to play
just keep reloading the game i guess?

Hey,I did what you said to write disconnect in the command console, reload it and write please wait and then it gives me the same message "failed to connect to backend service".

Yes. I don't know if it will still work though as it was many updates ago. Hopefully it works for you.

OKAY SO FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go into the MODS Folder within the game UI.
DELETE EVERY SINGLE MOD.
This will take a while but you must because its typically the cause.
Restart game then launch and should be fine.
Hope this helps!!! :)
