I'm just...literally, my entire job as spearboi is to find the enemy top-frag and poke them so they can't get maul-dinks off. It shuts them down half the time. The other half of the time, they parry my idiot teammate and get the uninterruptable dink off on them, then turn to face me.
You should never be in a position where a dude and his spear-friend are stabbing you because that is a fight you should lose. Enabling somebody's inability to read the flow of battle is exactly why bloodlust is a bad perk. If you don't want to be ganked by a polearm, you have to position yourself accordingly and not charge headlong into an enemy blob by yourself. As a spearman, I have to be cognizant of my team at all times or get murdered, and my teammates shouldn't be exempt from this task either. Otherwise there's not enough team-cohesion when people don't care to stick together.
Frontline's a team game, not a duel server. Different skills apply.
If you are using a spear, dont people just chamber you 24/7 and morph their stab in to a strike that hits you if you try to parry the "stab"
(im just curious because i love chambering stab weapons all of the time)
Chamber-to-slash is how you deal with spearboi harassment, but it's dangerous because part of harassing them is baiting out their chamber while they're not close enough, giving me a free spear-dink. I can also just parry to reset the initiative, then thrust-drag to change the timing you'd need.
I've won 1v4s before with main-mode spear, is hilarious.
Zweihander is king of the swords, all hail! (I heard it's getting a nerf.)
Newsflash: Most expensive weapon is one of the best weapons ....
But yeh bloodlust is a bit offbalance because I can go tank armour, cleaver, and bloodlust, and end up with a better weapon than I usually have because when you're actively scavenging its rare not to find a top tier weapon quickly.
You can also use alt mode to ding multiple enemies head with slash and it also have bs animation if you point the tip of spear at the enemy to look like you are trusting they gonna block. So yeah, can say it counter those maul, exsword and battleaxe. Not that good vs multiple enemies but sure it can fight 1vx
Lately there have been some spear hero´s that have been very tough to kill on frontline, so i see your point
That's kinda the problem, tho. These weapons are meta only in frontline because they're efficient against people you're already going to dumpster. If the average player on the server has better survivability, these weapons become less efficient.
so then weve hit a dilemma now
do you balance for FL or do you balance for 1v1 performance
these weapons sure as hell arent OP in 1v1, theres much, much stronger and crazier weapons to deal with
meanwhile those same OP dueling weapons arent too good in FL because the cleave isnt there and you arent instantly killing people
I just hate how I can visibly see when a dude top-frags and starts to get lost in the sauce, hunting for kills miles away from the objective, feeling good about the overinflated numbers they're racking up. This person will absolutely have bloodlust, and probably a maul to go with it. That's not the kind of thing that teaches people how to play frontline effectively, and certainly shouldn't be the gold standard of frontline weapons.
Then what should?
