Shield is very hard to deal with if you use it properly

The block update combined with the delay after the blocking pretty much ruined the shield class for me and i´ll probably won´t play the game for at least some time now.

Kick > Shields since the game was released. Also you can just literally walk around them.

They need to stop pooping on shields and make them a viable option just like other weapons. Because of kicks, there is no "niche" for shields to hold gates or choke points. I would LOVE to see this, but because the stupid kick mechanic exists, we will never see it.

Honestly, just get rid of kicks and add a stamina cost to blocking various hits. This would make bringing the Maul, Mace, and Sledgehammer more viable. Given the shields currently are made of wood too, you could even have shields need durability and can only take so many hits. That would be a neat mechanic.

But no, for now we are stuck with poopy shields that have no use. Anyone trying to "hold the line" with shields is just going to get kick spammed down and fire potted.

At least Bucklers and Targes can be thrown now hilariously enough.

Not really. Good luck kicking a guy with his shield up because he's just going to stab over it into your face with his sword or spear. In reality, your best hope was grabbing it with a free hand and pulling it down while swinging at their face, or using a hook.

I think you move and turn a little TOO slowly during the block phase, and that transitional phase that leaves you slow and unable to do anything is annoying, but I kind of like this change. Seems nice, especially now that axes don't seem to be doing extra stamina damage. I think the stamina negation on both kite and heater should be raised a bit, and the things I mentioned changed, and they'll be fine.

Yea I don't get it, there is no reason to keep nerfing shields. The only problem shields ever had was that the kick was so pitiful to use as a counter. But all they did was buff the kick which was needed but then kept nerfing the shields since.

Since release every single update has been one stop forward and two steps back.

except the new block mode is literally useless against anyone with half a brain because there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop a kick. the only way it will be "better for choke points" (as the patch notes say) is if the entire enemy team suddenly forgets how to kick.

i honestly can't wrap my mind around how stupid this design change is. at least let me use kicks to counter kicks while in block stance.

I also don't how there's no medium length spear in the game. There's either a short spear for one hand or a long spear for two hands. If you want to use a spear+shield combo, having a longer spear would be much better instead of that pathetic short spear.

this change doesn't make any sense, at this point I could just use the targe or nothing at all, the people who support it say that shields were too easy and weren't fun before it, but it doesnt make any sense either

Kind of why I said that the transition phase that leaves you vulnerable needs to go, and movement and turn cap should be buffed a bit. That way it's not completely useless.

In other news, a regular parry can block a kick, but held block can't. Kinda stupid. Honestly think either both should block, or neither should.
