If you mean exclusively the two of you, host your own server, set the player count to 2 max. Horde servers by default have 6 slots, and you'll be glad of it too when you get to wave 15+.
I think he meant the game requires someone to join a server first instead of joining all together as a team to “book” spaces for teammates
Hi Jorge, you could also host a dedicated server yourself provided that you have the appropriate platform, network and devices.
