Riposte Speed
On heavy 2h weapons, is the riposte quicker than a combo rapier thrust?
Is it quicker than a normal followup rapier thrust?

Im wondering because on average, Id want to force the rapier user onto the defensive
and I want to know if I need to parry 2-3 attacks and then club them to death or if I can
lead up with a riposte.

Probably not, but it wouldn't matter. A riposte grants hyperarmor, so even if three guys stabbed you, your swing won't stop.

The main appeal of managing a riposte rather than a block is you get super armor for the swing.

For a simulation of how effective that can be, next time you see someone spamming peasant carving knife swings just let them hit you and calmly overhand them in the head. Because carving knife is the only(?) weapon in the game that can't interrupt your swings on hit (and they are betting on slash spam chambering any paniced horizontals).

Now if only I wasn't complete garbage at the timing of ripostes over blocks.

Just attack as soon as you block, and you'll do a riposte. It kind of comes naturally to me though, which helps considering I get in WAY over my head whenever I use the executioners sword, so I just aim to kill as many people as possible through ripostes.

Ripostes are timed in such a way that they will ALWAYS be faster than an oncoming attack, regardless if you're using a dagger or a maul. If you parry and attack, try to riposte and end up getting hit by your opponent you're not doing a riposte, but rather have waited to long to start your attack and thrown out a regular one . If your opponent tries to attack again after you block but you riposted his first strike you'll get the hit unless they feint to parry.

Some people have a lot of trouble riposting on the reg because they block too late, after the parry animations. You actually want to attack at nearly the same time their weapon hits yours during your block.
