Weapon blades should have different stats
I noticed you can change the handles and blades of weapons.

Then it should have their own weapon stats.

Only cosmetics
ImHelping May 9, 2019 @ 11:18am
yeah cosmetics only, unless you are a sad sack who wants skill free "time played" to make you pretend you "deserve" mechanical benefits.

Kinda like the people who don't appretiate poofy sleeves on their plate armor, or metal arms with their leather vests for mad max warriors, and go "Whyyyyyy don't I get damage reduction from my cosmetics?"

i think the different blades, and handles should give different stats, not necessarily "better" stats to a weapon, just to change up how the weapon handles. Like maybe one blade gives more damage to heavy armor but makes the weapon swing slower. Doesn't have to be a buff or a nerf persay, just a different feeling to the weapon.

This isn’t an rpg though

No it's a first person sword fighting games, FPS games have been doing this for years just look at the weapon customization in games like COD and Battlefield. The different attachments change how the gun performs, why can't the swords different handles and blades change how it performs?

That isn’t what the devs want so we won’t get it

You'd need significant changes to change performance of the weapon.

eg. an arming sword with a falchion blade, that's a significant change... but that makes it into a falchion anyway.

Because it wouldn't add anything of value to Mordhau. Even before you consider it flying in the face that there would be no mechanical advantages gated behind grind, only cosmetics.

"But X game did it!" doesn't make things better automatically, even if you liked the other game.

I loved Revengance and Bayonetta, but that doesn't mean Bayonetta needs blade mode "Because other game had it!"

By your claimed """Logic"""", Gran turismo needs turtle shells because Mario Kart has turtle shells.

Actually it should change weapons' handling.
Yeah, sure kit.

And as also said-

Flies in the face of what the devs already promised, to not gate mechanical content behind grind.

And, again. How naive it is to go "But OTHER game did thing!" as a reason, because context and application matter more than concept.

Honestly, all you got going is "But I waaaaant iiiiiiit. shut up if you don't agreeeeeee" and it really shows.

I paid for customized Maul and arming swords already for example, and I'm still happy it's cosmetic only. It also opens up the variety because it means you can go back to the older looks without any detrimental effects on your gameplay or muscle memory.

So what? Is it wrong now to want more interesting features in the game?

...That's it? A generic "Interesting?" That's a dead end.

That kind of logic is how you get people demanding realtime decompression chamber wait times in a sci-fi scuba game because "It would add immersion!"

See also, disingenuous "But it's just asking for options!" posters who don't want REAL options, just filler.

Like the sort of person who mewls for an ironman toggle for any and every game under the sun "Just delete your own save man, it's not hard. Oh you also want a bannana sticker pat on the head cheevo and to disable console, What happened to options?"

Well if that is what you want. I want to be able to replace my throwable rocks with throwable horse dung with a lingering damage stat for open wounds. I wanna sit in the back of the map flinging feces at people like the bots on Horde Mode do.

Proofs?
Nice bait

You don’t need “proofs”

The devs want to steer clear of that

And it’s ironic you want different weapon blades to do different things, it goes against what the devs want and you are the same guy getting butthurt about slashing armor
