Besides if we take a look on other medieval combat games that had firearms (besides war of the roses that i didn't play so i can't really talk about it) like mount& blade: with fire and sword, it was one the least played versions...
The game has landsknecht and zweihanders.
That's renaissance not medieval.
Not to mentioned that looks like to be a mid 17th century rapier. Very much not a medieval weapon.
This is a mele combat death match game, not a medieval combat game.
Seriously though, I can see them working similar to a crossbow, where you'd have to stop to reload the thing, and it would ignore armor, but do overall the same, or less damage than the crossbow.
