For now I'll do just this:

Shield should block 1 step attacks.
And spear and shield will and should always be the bane of 2h lonewolfs. 2hands also block "way past their physical position"

In fact, I use shield only because I like shields. And if I wouldn't I'll switch to 2h for sure.
About.. 10% of the enemies i fight have a shield, but steam forums will ♥♥♥♥♥ about even the worst thing in the game being op lol
Shields can't bash and\or push, u can't stab behind shield and all other things, you know, irl shield was cappable to do. All you can do with shield is holding block loosing any offensive capability with reduced vision, huge turning speed and no counter-attack moves.
Then how about we make kick not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god awful (kick isnt a 100% anti shield tool) rather than nerf a allready bad option because bad players cant deal with it.
I can't explain how I do it, because ideas come to me while I face an enemy, but so far I've always enjoyed slaughtering every kind of enemy: the lancer, the swordsman, the rock ... not to boast, but I'm good;)
They need a rework not a nerf. Shields should break at a certain point. There shouldn't be invisible blocking, legs and sides should be vulnerable. And yes, they should block things when they are not active. I don't think its because of 2h that they changed that. Probably the people that decide to use 2 shields and would never get struck with any sort of melee blow. Trying wearing armor and move like a turtle and tell me how effective footwork is. Or maybe they should add a weight to the heavier shields.
