Yes you are correct. It also is very useful in close quarters where you weapons can get stuck.

You mean alt grip? It's faster and better in close quarters.

It's sped up I believe. It actually details it in the customization menu, you can tick the box that says 'alt mode' or whatever it says and it shows the many different stats.

I halfsword against lightly armored heavy weapons bearers.

Thrusts do more damage against armor when half-swording except for zweihander which does more damage against light armor when thrusting with halfswording

So does it make the sword a bit fast or is it really just for close quarters??

I can see the the advantage too for the "Bastard Sword" 2h grip, it seem that the only stat that changes is that your attacks getting a bit slower, but not stronger(?)

It also deals more damage against armored opponents like all blunt weapons do, relatively to sharp ones.

In general you can say that sharp weapons deals more damage to the lower armor tiers and the blunt have a more flat damage curve based on the armor they strike. Hope that clears stuff up!

Find this to be not true since you can simply stab at any range anytime.

if you rely solely on stabs in close quarters, and your opponent has a short enough weapon to use slashes and stabs, he will win
