Actually, hand-and-half sword is a variation of a longsword. It's a bit shorter, both handle and blade wise, to maintain it's Point of Balance close enough to be usable in 1 hand. PoB is mostly 9cm from the crossguard in generic longswords, so I'd suppose hand-and-half sword would have to have it a little closer, like 5cm. It means reducing mass on the blade, which means it will be shorter.
Some games like classic Dungeons & Dragons classify Longsword as a long 1-handed sword afaik, which is incorrect.
Dark Souls too. Longsword is this puny little thing, while Bastard Sword is a monster.
Official classification calls it the arming sword.
