Weapon ideas: Musket and flintlock pistol
As we already have weapons of the same time period in the game, like the rapier, I wonder if these could be implemented. essentialy the concept of the musket is a marksman weapon. It has a very fast projectile speed and can one-shot anyone with a headshot, but to balance it out, its reload time is something along 10-12 or even 15-20 seconds, the shot can be blocked by a shield or parry and it costs 10 or 11 points to empathise its roll as a marksman weapon.

The flintlock pistol on the other hand simply could be something of a heavy sidearm. Costing 4-5 points and being a fast way of dealing mediocre damage, like 25 to a heavy armored guy on the torso. It could have a long reload time of 8-9 seconds but have a fast draw speed and shoot immediatly from the hip without preaim. It should have some inaccuracy, empathising people to shoot at the body instead of the head though.

I am really curious what you guys think of these weapon ideas and especialy from the devs. I think we currently lack the dedicated marksman weapon. Yes the crossbow is good but a weapon that is cumbersome to reload and maintain but can deal even with heavier heads on medium range would be great.

Sounds really cool, I'd like to see a heavy crossbow too (like an Arbalest or something).

We already got the mounted crossbow and the ballista. I think if we stay european, we have enough crossbows already.

They apparently Felt the Handgonne, was too out of place, so good luck.

Honestly, before they even consider adding more dedicated ranged weapons, I'd prefer they look at huntsman again. That's the biggest issue with any non throwing ranged weapon. Being smashed by a maul on body shots is ridiculous.

Ballista's are siege weapons, they don't really count. There are two infantry bows, so why not two infantry crossbows?

The huntsman doesn't affect your ability to resist melee weapons at all, what do you mean there?

I think that we probably wouldn't get both and I'd rather have a long barreled musket than giant crossbow.

It's a metaphor. It's like having a maul pop your head, except it's on every body shot with a ranged weapon. It's ridiculous.

I think the huntsman is fine.. it's the only way for you to kill things with one shot. I assume they did it to prevent never ending sniper battles, because with Max damage of 42... It would take 3 shots to kill an enemy Archer, and that's no fun. Don't bring up headshots either... Because who the ♥♥♥♥ aims for heads.... The bolts/arrows are awfully slow, do ♥♥♥♥ damage (even on heads, unless you have no armor you won't one shot), to make matters worse, terrible netcode means that ♥♥♥♥ just goes through... I like the current huntsman, I think it's fine and it requires archers to be on the lookout for other archers, as well as to be quick about their shots... If your vigilant, and carful about your position. The huntsman is not a danger...honestly, I wish there was a perk to increase range damage all around..
