frustrating learning curve
I have now 13 hours in mordhau and I feel like I wanna stop playing. Other games are really making fun at this point in but it is difficult to enjoy mordhau. In the beginning, I just said to myself that it is okay that I keep dying and that I just have to learn the game a bit. But 13 hours later I still cannot defeat any enemies, when I do it is by chance and not skill. I am mostly playing on duel servers because I noticed that I would start to cheese in frontline games. Now every time I boot up the game it becomes frustrating in a few minutes. Blocks were rewarding at first but now once I learned them feints become annoying. I just really don't enjoy playing. Am I just bad? Is there a way I can get better? How does one overcome this?

Same Boat, I know all the basics, but can't apply them. I am often the worst scoring player in the game and usually only get points by offering my life on a cap point.

I'd be happy to train you one-on-one. I'm not really a pro or anything but I'm pretty solid as a player. My last game was 30 - 20.

Same offer goes out to you.

I would recommend watching video(s) on how game mechanics work and then just practice, practice and practice some more. It takes a bit of time to learn how to move around, when to engage or disengage, timings of all different weapons and how to feign/morph strikes.

Also, if a dueling server seems to have too difficult opponents move to a different one.

Duels are often touted as the best way to learn, but they can also be very frustrating and they won't help you get better if they drive you away from the game, will they? Besides, if the skill gap is too big, it's possible that you won't learn a thing. I'm not a good player, I usually die about as much as I kill, and the difference in skill is almost palpable: when I fight a real good player I feel like I can't even touch them, but when fighting a bad player it immediately feels like I can do whatever I want with them. Skill gaps can be huge in this game.

If you want to keep dueling, consider bringing two practice swords and ask other people to pick one before dueling you. Otherwise, just get on Frontlines and get some enjoyment out of the game. You'll still improve if you pay close attention to what you're doing, like constantly remind yourself to block at the last possible nanosecond or go into a particular fight with the goal of chambering everything you can or practice morphs nonstop even if they're not optimal in a given fight.

And yeah, spec good players every now and then, that can help.

you need to learn and understand the basic mechanics there is no way around it for example chambering counters feints. other than that you just have to suck it up and keep practicing.
close to 150hrs now and i still meet players who kill me just like that.

we are in the same time zone so if you want to do some sparring with explanations i can help you out on most days around evening.

i mean i use to be like you till i made friends with some really good players who taught me the ropes and trust me i was one hell of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ student XD not understanding how to parry and much more but now that i got alot better i really enjoy this game and its beyond more fun with friends i would say tho you do need to do 1v1 early lvls till your confident enough in yourself.
The best advice I got from a friend reallllly good at the game (Zigzog) was this one. It's way easier to create your attacks and strategy to deafeat your opponent, than trying to read him. This is very true. You have to take the initiative. And more over, avoid the 1v'x' fights. Be aware of what surrounds you. That s important.
well it took me like 30 hours to get use to the directional attacks and im still not fully adapt to them, and you know there is a tutorial right? and regardless of both of those the game is full of sweaty tryhards so, that would also do it

When in doubt, feint.

Dont worry, I have 4 and am just as frustrated. Apparently theres a riposte mechanic for counters, and some weird stuff you can do with thrust parries. So try looking up steam guides on it

Take a break from duels, try horde even, or try and find a server with a few people a out your level. Don't just associate the game with beating your head against a brick wall.

I make it a point to start ignoring the super-accelling battle axe guys in duels after a few deaths because it stops being remotely engaging.

What would you suggest to do against the entire team of horses and spears in frontline that keep one shotting me?

Spears only one shot you if you have no helmet, so get some head gear. Chamber morph them if they rely on stabs too much. If you see the horse, parry the lance, you'll survive it. Try and be aware of your surroundings, so you don't get stabbed or lanced in the back.
