Anything without shield. Pick up a longsword or something.

Long spear is the easiest weapon to handle.

I would recommend you start with the default knight class. It has heavy armor, a very balanced weapon, the long sword, and a decent perk.

Grabbing a spear and 2-2-1 armour allows you to learn basic stuff like the maps, how to judge reach and distance, footwork and the like, while staying out of a fair bit of danger thanks to your reach. If you're coming from e.g. M&B, avoid held shields for a bit so that you can learn to block properly first.

Yeah, don't take dodge or a shield until you can parry reliably.

bastard sword, best armor you can manage, then a couple perks, and join a dueling server, and ask for some tips, explain your new.

things you will wanna learn, is 1vx parry, if you parry an attack, you can parry again immediately, this allows you an "easy parry" which is much stronger area wise.

next chambering. this is when you rub your weapon against their weapon.
Morphing, this allows you to swap one attack, into another attack before it is locked in and confuse your enemies. (also allows chamber morphing, which can be a huge advantage in some situations. )

acceling is when you move your swing into the player, and dragging is when you slow your attack down to screw with their parry timing.

give that a couple hours, and jump into frontline to get wrecked :3

2-2-2 armor, billhook and bloodlust if you want to get stuck into it. No obvious weakpoints, a decent ranged weapon and full health on every kill.

2-2-0 armor, spear, friendly and tenacious. Spear benefits from positioning, footwork and sticking with your team and means you wont have to get into more involved duels early on. Friendly means you can more often screw up or have your team mates screw up on you, and tenacious means you can take short breaks between the fights to go back to 100% hp.
Just watch out for people chopping your legs with executioner swords and bardiches, as well as enemy bear traps.

First weapon i tried was the basic knight. First class i built was fairly armored and a waraxe. I tried alot.of different weapons. I like the waraxe. Everyone is different. Play, get gold, buy gear and play more. Half the fun is trying out new weapons and loadouts. I have about 12 custom characters to do different things.

A basic spear build is good for beginners.

Take a spear and as much armour as you can.
Scrotum Scratcher Jun 11, 2019 @ 10:11am
333 armor and a longsword. You won't learn much if you use something like a spear or a shield. The longsword is a very balanced weapon and it was buffed recently. It will help you learn the game more.

Estoc is a pretty solid sword in my opinion. I rack up lots of kills with this. You should give it a try.

For the armour it depends on what else you want. If you want to get 1 or 2 perks then get 3-2-2 otherwise stick with a 3-3-3

It was nerfed not buffed.Either way longsword is hardly a beginners weapon.
