Gunpowder weapons? The door is open now.
So they've added a mortar or bombard or what have you in crossroads. What's next? An arquebus or thrown bombs? I hope not. I can deal with archers as part of the bargain but I was hoping powder weapons would stay out of Mordhau. A precedent has been set though, it's the powder age.

Yes and no. If we look at what kind of eras the game spans it's pretty wide, from Viking era Dark Ages through to around about the Elizabethan era, so in the sense that later period combatants are represented, gunpowder wouldn't seem out of place.

That said, it's my understanding that the earlier an more widespread use of gunpowder initially was via larger siege guns, such as bombards, which actually came about quite early, relatively speaking, so there is a logical argument for siege weapons being all we get in terms of gunpowder (though that still doesn't sit with having Landsknechts and the like running around and yet not an arquebus in sight).

Another consideration is that the addition of era-appropriate gunpowder weaponry doesn't need to see them being these overpowered monsters - they were slower to load and less accurate than crossbows until much later on, meaning you could implement them simply as a harder hitting, less accurate, slower crossbow which leaves the user much more vulnerable on the reload, makes them rather ineffective at distance, but deals a ton of damage if they're lucky enough to land a shot. That could keep them balanced if done properly and more of a mid-range anti-tank gun for heavy knights (which some scholars argue is how they may have actually been employed).

I certainly don't see much argument for Grenades, they didn't come into any kind of widespread use until long after the game setting is over.

If I recall this is one the earliest cannon designs
They also have a execution sword which is from after the medieval period and was more a decoration for courts to strike fear in the people of what will happen if you break the law

I would love a rifle Halberd, think about it. Did you miss your thrust? BOOM, shoot your enemy in the face because your Halberd has a rifle barrel on it!

arquebuse with like 10 sec reloading time, cannot move when aiming but inflict 100 damage on lv3 head armor. pike and shot fans can create their own tercio

The dev's have stated they would likely not add actual Gun's into the game.
Modders can do it if they wish.

This however, is a maybe.

I would be interested in this, but I feel there would be no point if you could literally parry them with a sword. Still, if they did most of the stuff I read on there, it would definitely be interesting. Giving you like 6 seconds to react is plenty of time to take cover, and shooting a smoke cloud would make it hard for groups of players to line up and demolition people. Could also be interesting to make a two point bayonet or something, but that's a whole different thread.
