I just started using the hal last night and i think it's the only weapon I can make sense of.
Its a short speed with double the speed and less range, It is a hidden gem. Best paired with shield and stab spam. Also bloodlust so it makes you invincible.
Messer
Longsword
Battleaxe
Bardiche
Halberd
Greatsword
Zweihander
Spear
Poleaxe
Eveningstar
None of the weapons in this game are worthless for their equipment cost. Some are better for different situations. The most versatile weapons out of those in frontline would probably be greatsword or bardiche, you can still go 3/3/2 and you have great damage (especially bardiche, try it in alt mode against someone without leg armor :o) ) and good range (alt mode for bardiche).
No.2 the Morning star = 75dmg on head even against t3 !!! fast stabs
No.3 Shortsword or Dagger = Fast, versatile, extreme fast stabbing (f*ck you Mr. Spear!), only 1 or 2 points costs!
Short sword is meh. I assume you guys mean arming sword, since the short sword costs one point, and the arming costs two.
Huh. I always take the dagger over the short sword, with the exception of one build. I suppose it comes down to whether you want a bit of extra speed or a bit more each. Both are surprisingly lethal for 1 point weapons.
Eveningstar has great damage and more range and speed than the maul
Cleaver is without doubt the best low cost weapon with amazing damage and speed for 1 point
Personally - Estar
Realistically - held block shield & spear/Falchion if you don’t mind being a no skilled crutch loser.
Is it though? Shields tend to have lower stamina negation, and you lose a fair amount of reach and damage when you go one handed. You may gain immunity to feints, but you lose a fair amount of backpedal speed and a weakness to kicks. You can also drag around them with some practice. I'd personally take a bardiche or messer to duels over a shield.
I won’t use a shield because it feels dirty.
Messer/bastard you don’t have a problem w reach. Spear you outreach most two handers w stab, which is what you should be doing.
Also w backpedal speed buff for held block last patch if you wear medium/light armor and back up after every attack you cannot be kicked. Only way to catch any decent player w a shield is to gamble kick and hope they feint.
Shields were fine before the backpedal speed buff imo. Now they are broken.
At least most shield users are trash players. But if I or anyone with a grasp on mechanics use it, it’s just plain not fair in a 1v1 situation.
I suppose I'm wrong about any major sacrifice in damage/reach. I've personally never had any issues kicking a backpedaling shield user, no matter the armor, so I can't say I completely agree with that part, but the weapon part is absolutely correct.
I felt the same way. Smash all shield users. Until me and some friends/clan members started dueling w shields for comp. it’s a different story when the person w the shield is a good player.
Add me, we can duel a bit sometime. I’ll use a shield and show you what I mean.
