Weapon Meta

The most OP weapon in the game right now is Executioner Sword. Followed pretty closely by the Evening Star.

Outside of that, "meta" is a trap. There are so many weapons that are excellent and just using a "meta" weapon because the competitive players say it's insane isn't reason to use it unless you actually enjoy it. Bastard Sword, Longsword, War Axe, Battle Axe, Pole Axe, Bardiche, Zweihander, Halberd, Spear, Mace, Falchion, and Billhook are all great weapons.

I use Executioner Sword very rarely because I do not enjoy it as a weapon. I also use Greatsword fairly regularly despite it being a pretty mediocre weapon and can still find plenty of success. What you use doesn't matter as much as people think it does.

Why would the Evening Star be OP? I know, some people see it as Maul with longer range but this isnt true.

It's basically the best dueling weapon in the game. It has practically unbeatable stam drain. Two shots basically everything. Excellent morphs/feints. Scary accels, nasty drags. The hitstop changes helped it even though prior to them it was already the best dueling weapon in the game. Essentially, it's everything you could want out of a dueling weapon. It's not as great in Invasion/Frontline, but it's still very strong in those modes.

Currently, the Executioner Sword has sort of taken it's place while also being better in high playercount modes. The Executioner Sword essentially does everything the Evening Star does, but has the ability to cleave. With the range of the Executioner Sword the loss in ability to combo isn't anywhere near as big a drawback as it would seem.

Longsword is overrated because of its terrible damage and really bad stamina values. You can try to drag and accel all day with longsword and hit the head, but the moment your enemy doesn't suck at defense, you lose to stamina. You can get away with bastard and messer because of their speed/drags/damage combination. I think evening star and halberd are the two best dueling weapons, while halberd also is good in Frontlines/Invasion.

I don't pay much attention to the meta, but I find the bardiche and the messer to be solid weapons, in all modes. Both do high damage, and have decent speed.

But lets all be honest, the real meta is javelins.

The high level players I see like 100+ use weapons like the zwei, exe sword, longsword, and greatsword. I think those are solid weapons to learn

If you like quick weapons anyway go for the arming sword, looks real dope with the viking skin as well. Plus it only costs like 2 points so great for a lot of builds

Mind that duel and frontline priorities are very different from one another. Duel is mostly centered on stamina-war, but in Frontline there are many different roles. I prefer halberd and spear.
Btw, meta (Most Efficient Technique Available) is not just about weapon. In that regard, the game is mostly "heavy armor" meta.
