How to get better at this insanely fast paced game?
Simple but serious question..
Sick of getting destroyed by even the newest of players.
I tend to panic parry a lot because I find predicting if someone will feint, morph or actually slash, impossible. And getting around people’s parries is ridiculously hard too.
People say to use “excels” dunno where that term came from, and drags, but I still highly doubt that it will work, I see videos of people who still manage to predict the drags or feints and other shet.
Also what is a “flinch”?

It's not about predicting. You have to read what people do. Track the movement of their hands and not the weapon. When you see a feint stab.

id suggest being more aggressive sure your attack can be parried and counter attacked but you can block most of those only problem being that it migth end in a endless loop of parry / block + counter attacks and the game is mostly about timing use feints to fool the enemy into a blocking or to time your attack rigth or just waiting for the perfect moment but any moment you are not attacking will give your enemy more time to play aggressively against you

2 handed weapons is a good starter since you can keep distance while dealing damage also some people prefer shields for defence but id not recomend shield as you ( as a new player maybe ) will not learn effective parry reflex using shield many people like using zweihander , executioners sword , spear, short spear , maul , heavy handaxe , and the war axe of course there are others valid and plenty good weapons but id say these are the most " used " at the moment

also stay close to your team mates as they offer protection and strength :cozykcdknight:

other than that i cant really help since i am not really good at this game maybe mediocare skill or below average sometimes even just swinging like a mad man works but it works less and less effective as compared to launch days ps you can always try playing in 3rd person mode if 1fps seems too claustrophobic/panicy for you

its accels not excels, its called that because you accelerate your attack

Aggression is always good, for starters. While I personally play more defensively than some, playing aggressively can help protect against feint users and others who would try to trick you. Learning to read attacks is important, so you can defend properly. Learning drags and accels is important as well, since those are incredibly useful. Finally, try out plenty of weapons, and find the one that suits you. You may enjoy distance, and use a spear or zwei, or you may prefer rushing with a battle axe.

panic parry is best trained away by blocking as LATE as possible, and ONLY when you think you will be hit. its better to train with flat out not blocking til you KNOW, and even getting hit, then developing the ability to react, than spamming, spamming doesn't work.

Getting around parries involves drags, "accels", morphs, fients, and footwork. its a dance, don't just stand there and look straight ahead, you will be trash.

Flinch is when you get hit, and stop animations.

agreed last minute parry is the way to go since so often people can try to do a morhp or a feint to throw you off balance so patience is and cool nerves is always good thing to have

it is a work in progress (link to a youtube playlist at the end). currently i only have very basic beginner stuff covered, but it might help. next part will go into more details about timings, the various recovery phases/lockouts and initiative.

maybe it helps.

Horde works too, making you train against multiple opponents.

i dont really like playing against horde since the AI feels more wierd compared to how players play but thats good practice for blocks sure

Thanks mate. I haven't watched it all yet, but I can already tell it will be good because what you explained at the start I can relate to a LOT. How you said that you've been at the same situation where it's frustrating and when you keep getting killed and not improving, it's tempting to just stop playing the game all together.
I will look further into it when I have the time. :)
