broke golem final crystal and jaw, can't grab crystal from face or do anything else at all

I tried this twice, get to the golem and successfully break all the magenta crystals, including the shielded ones, and they stay on their knees after I break open the face and I can't grab the crystal inside the head, or break it, or leave, or do anything else except quit and try again. I've tried twice, and I don't have it in me to try a third time. I've never fought one of these before, so I'm not familiar with what's supposed to happen.
if it helps, maybe it's tied to performance? the game is running really bad, getting around 30FPS and the whole game runs in slow motion. I have a pretty new computer with a solid CPU, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6 core 3701Mhz (it's clearly gamethread bound, changing graphical settings to absolute lowest doesn't impact perf at all, the MS budget was like 400 MS over when trying to tweak things which is absolutely insane).
or maybe it's not. I've read through the troubleshooting master post and switched my refresh rate to 90 like it said, but I don't expect that to fix it. I just couldn't pick up the crystal, don't really know what to do about it.

I mean one time the crystal was further inside it's head than intended and I have to telegrab it toward me if that helps
