Hopefully a mod is made soon to change this.
"Stolen" weapons will always be dropped when you leave the ruins or outposts. The only weapons you can hold onto are ones you have bought in the shop. And to clarify even if you buy a specific weapon you still can't hold onto enemy weapons/weapons found lying around even if it's the exact same one you bought and "own". Ancient weapons in particular are never sold at the shop either so truly acquiring them in normal play is not possible.
Yeah, super goofy decision. Especially with the 'loot' you are supposed to grab and sell its maybe 1 or 2 items that are lackluster, to say the least. No reason your character should throw his staffs off the boat into the sea.
Who cares if they are 'Stolen'? Am I going to get a bounty/arrested and put in magical jail?
Come on.
Seemed dumb, but honestly... after playing it a bit longer, i can already see its not necessary to take the weapons back with you.
Collect as many figurines, trinkets, ingots and goblets etc as you can, trade for money, buy the things you need.
It seems disappointing at first, but once you start collecting and trading, you'll see it was actually quite a good choice by the devs to make it more like you earn things and give you more satisfaction from it / stop you from being OP straight away. It also staggers the tiers of weapons you can buy, based on your progression in the story, so just... trust the process. it wont bother you for long
