I can't shoot merged spells
How do I do it? I merge them but whatever direction I sway the controllers at the spell just fizzles out

With lightning, you can shoot it out in front and control it, but I haven't played the game much. You just need to experiment with hand positioning/rotation.
Generally it seems like having your palms face what you want to hit is the best course of action. Or at least it seems that way with the Oculus controllers. That's about all the guidance I can give for you there.

In case you didn't know as well, you can guide the fireballs by moving your hands, too. Rotation doesn't work, you have to move it as if your palm has a laser pointer within and you're using it to guide a missile.

With staves, you have to imbue them with a spell until the staff has enough charge to cast magic. Think of it like a mana transfusion from you, to your weapon.

All staves have a slam attack but that consumes more of the mana so you can't use the slams as often as the casts.

To cast spells with a staff you need to press and sometimes hold the button you use to bring up the spell wheel.

Lightning has a sick staff spell where it leaves these thin lightning 'cables' that stun enemies and can stupidly easily literally pop limbs off of enemies. Heads pop off as if you were playing Destroy All Humans.

With fire imbued in the staff, you need to swing it as you spress the spell button because the fireballs have momentum and gravity, unlike when you throw them from your hands. Takes practice and physical strength to throw them far.

Now, if only I could work out how to cast the two-handed gravity spell......

I have absolutely no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea how to use the gravity ball, but lightning and fire should be a case of doing kind of a kamehameha, I believe

Yes I managed to shoot out the fireball, the electricity ball I shot out too but only upwards the sky. And likewise, I can't figure out the gravity ball.

Which brings to question, how exactly do staffs work as well? Do they only activate when pounding them into the ground?

The charged gravity ball is cast by spreading your arms outward, like you're Chris Pratt trying not to get eaten by velociraptors. It took me a minute to figure out as well. It combos very well with launching yourself skyward while it's active. ;)

I have literally tried every movement of my arms and not a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing works.
What exactly is the effect supposed to be? A gravity bubble where the ball hovers in the air by itself?

Are you releasing the triggers when casting? That might be the problem.

It creates a semicircle of zero gravity (for enemies) and reduced gravity (for you) in about a 10-foot radius. Kinda like the slam for the electricity-infused staff, it guarantees melee enemies in your vicinity can't touch you.

I tried everything, dude.
Releasing triggers, pressing alt-use, releasing grip, and doing none of those. Literally nothing works, and not a single gesture did anything other than make the ball stay put for 2 seconds before fizzling out.

Should I report this to the dev maybe?

Ohhhh, if it's fizzling out, you're out of manna. You can check it by the blue bar when you look at your wrist.

It uses manna to create the spell orbs (both combined and separate). If you don't have enough to both create and cast them, nothing will happen. I would recommend turning on unlimited manna in the cheats section when you're learning. It's fun. Particularly when playing 3D flappy bird with gravity spells. ;)

Nono, I turned on infinite mana just to understand the spell, but like I said, it has never worked for me of the maybe 60 times I've attempted it.
Someone else said that you need to hit someone with it, not sure how true that is, yet to test it

literally just a skill issue.
With gravity, you hold two gravity spells together and wait for the thing to stop growing. don't have your hands too close together. then you pull your hands apart.
With lightning, you hold two lightning spells together and then point your palms forward. the spell shoots out, then you can move your arms around to point the spell.
With fire, you hold two fire spells together, make sure you fully charge it, then thrust both hands forward.

How is it a skill issue if I have literally pulled my hands apart in every single humanly conceivable manner???
I've tried simple horizontal spreads maybe 15 times: ♥♥♥♥ all happened
I tried fancier rotational adjustments cos I saw someone on youtube do something that worked: nothing happened
I tried vertical spreads: nothing happened

Not a single gesture works. And trust me, I've tried the supposedly functional vanilla gesture plenty of times for it to have statistically worked even once.

Someone in another thread said you have to hit someone whilst charging it for it to work but the weather has been too hot to try it out in VR

Whelp, I've been off Steam for a bit. No, you don't need to hit anything. It's been a second since I've used it now, but it might be worth noting I think* that I continue holding the cast button when I "pull" the orb apart. Or it might be the opposite.

Once I figured that out, I haven't had any issues casting it. It feels completely natural (to the point of not remembering except via muscle).

I pulled it off once recently. Still a hassle though, just like the other merged spells.

i explained in excruciating depth exactly how to do it, if it isnt working, you're doing it wrong. send a link to a video and show me or smth but it's your problem, not the game's

If you're going to keep posting comments like an angry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, piss off and waste your time in other threads. I deal enough with people like you and I'm sick of seeing toxic waste everywhere.

There's not even anything to get you so mad over, so go take anger management classes on the side since you're clearly inept at managing your own emotions over minor slights that don't even concern you.
