I had the same problem when the house loaded before U10, but opening SteamVR used to fix the thing. Is it the first time you get the issue??
Exactly how it was working for me too, before when it happened I just opened SteamVR but well as you said now it just puts you in a far off place in the skybox. It's been like this for a few months only now in U10 is it really an issue.
Press the VR menu button to open and then close the VR menu (such as the SteamVR menu)
If that didn't work, an alternate solution is press the space bar two times on the keyboard.
This is actually not a U10 specific thing; it is a weird old bug that has haunted for a long time and has no reproducible origins. I get it myself randomly, but because it doesn't show in the log or have any ways to reproduce, it is unknown what is causing it or how to fix it. It's super random and sometimes it just simply goes away on its own... Anecdotally, I get it more often when I am using mods, but I have no clue the cause really. I have also had it in other VR games, so maybe it's Unity related? It's the worst!
Kospy said he would look into this more as it'd be great to finally destroy it.
Hey! Great to get some developer input and yeah this has been a bug for some time however if you open and close VR menu now what will happen is you'll be teleported somewhere in the skybox when in the character selection area, the way I've found to fix this is to open and close menu once then Space + F4(x2) I appreciate your comment on this and I hope ya'll can find what's causing it with little trouble! (Forgot to mention but this is a bug that always happens to me mods or no mods.)
Awesome to hear, that it's already being looked into, great update so far!
And like others said, that pressing home button used to be a good solution, but in U10 in the character selection screen, that causes you to teleport into the sky, making it impossible to go any further and in the home it causes the player character to freeze etc.
Double spacebar still works, but it's pretty tedious having to do that everytime you load another level.
