Blade & Sorcery

Persistent BLACK SCREEN issue
I'm using the Oculus Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop and a Link Cable.

Earlier today, I played the game using SteamVR and had no issues whatsoever and less than an hour ago I decided to install some mods.

Upon launching the game with my mods installed, I faced a black screen apparent on my monitor outside the goggles. I was only able to see the SteamVR waiting area through my goggles.

Assuming that the mods were the issue, I deleted them all and launched the game again. The same issue occurred, prompting me to look up any possible fixes.

I've deleted my save files and upgraded to the beta 9.3 in an attempt to fix the issue, but it has only yielded an infinite loading screen. To ensure that it was infinite, I waited 20 minutes to see if the game would load.

No clue what to do at this point and I'm very curious how mods - even though I deleted them - can break my game.

Great! It was def the 9.2 Unity XR plugin issue that was fixed in 9.3.

Hey! It was a good idea to update to 9.3 as I think your black screen was very likely caused by the 9.2 XR Plugin. But now if you have infinite loading, the solution would be deleting the save and config - you mentioned deleting your save, but I wonder if you maybe didn't delete the correct thing? Check out this sticky thread and just double check you did this exactly, and that you deleted the entire folder https://steamcommunity.com/app/629730/discussions/2/2450469119947281759/ It also explains in here how removed mods can still F up your game. In Documents/mygames be sure the folder you delete is bladeandsorcery and not blade&sorcery (though you can delete this too without consequence; its just a steam junk folder).

If you are 100% positive you did this correct and positive you didn't miss any mods when you were deleting, maybe it would be good to do a clean reinstall (don't skip steps in this guide) https://steamcommunity.com/app/629730/discussions/2/4366772972631187775/ And in your circumstance, after you uninstall and clear everything out, set the beta to U9.3 and then reinstall, so that it installs a fresh 9.3 directly, rather than installing 9.2 and then upgrading to 9.3. Maybe something weird happened when steam was changing versions and something got corrupt.

I deleted the Blade and Sorcery folder in My Documents multiple times (the only thing in it was a steam cloud save every time) in hopes of making the game load, but I found no success there.

I decided to downgrade to 9.0 to see it that might work and it did not, leading me to change to 9.3 once again. The loading screen still was infinite.

I found my fix by verifying the integrity of the game files - something I don't entirely understand as changing versions seemed to have reinstalled the entire game.

The game launches perfectly now - no black screens and no infinite loading screen. I can play the game comfortably and even incorporate mods into my game.
