Full Body Tracking doesnt work for me
To be clear it never worked for me. But with Patch 8.4 i was hopeful it might work now but i still cant see my feet for the calibration.

My Setup is Valve Index as HMD, 2x Index Controller for Hands 2x Vive wands (Connected via htc vive) for Feet and 1x Smartphone converted to hip tracker with owotracker. It works in vrchat but not in B&S.

The Hip tracker is shown when i click on calibrate and i also can validate it but the two feet controller arent there :(

Checklist:
changed the usb ports for the vive
configurated right foot left foot and hip (of cource) in steam vr
reinstalled B&S
Changed Vive Controller to Vive Tracker via Natural Locomotion

Anyone have any Idea?

Thanks!

This led me to believe that the conversion to trackers wasn't complete. So, instead of converting the wands to trackers via NALO, I used the instructions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ykyS447OF4. After following those instructions, the controllers displayed as trackers in the SteamVR home display, and I was able to validate my "feet" in B&S.

So, it seems that the conversion built into NALO is not sufficient for B&S. I'm not sure why that would be, but if you are having foot tracking difficulty I recommend giving this a whirl.

Hey, I'm not sure if the issue could be cropping up because the use of the smartphone, owotracker, natural locomotion (which can all add chance for issues), or if it is the game itself. But just one thing to check - you are on the latest version of the game? Your beta should be set to "none", which will put you on version U9.2. FBT was broken in U8 and was fixed in 8.4, but I forget which beta. Just wanna make sure you are not on a n old version.

Otherwise I'm not too positive what is going wrong there (besides smartphone/controllers causing potential issue as trackers) because your checklist is good; most people make the mistake of failing to calibrate in steamvr. I feel like I've seen other players use controllers as as trackers before though...

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I patched the game to the newest update. (no Beta)

I saw people with vive wands on their feet for b&s too, so I assumed that should work.

Would it work without a hip tracking?
Before I used owotracker the tracker button couldn't be clicked so I thought I have to use at least 3 tracker.

Maybe the problem is that I have 2 hmd connected to the pc. The index only could handle 3 devices so I left my old vive also connected and used it as connector. Maybe the game can't see that devices then?

Hmm I am honestly not too sure. Let me share this thread with warpfrog and maybe one of the guys will have an idea. The wild cards here are owotracker and natural locomotion, because none of use will have any clue about their operation or what to do if problems could be getting introduced during that step. But let me see if anyone has an ideas and they can weigh in if they have some.

UPDATE: Kospy himself confirms FBT is working in U9.2, but he tested with vive trackers. So it seems the issue you are encountering is occurring somewhere either in using controllers/smartphone or somewhere in the pipeline with the extra software. People have definitely hacked vive controllers to make them work before, but I don't know the ins and outs of it. Maybe have a dig around the Steam B&S forums and see what other people's solutions were. Perhaps they did something other than NALO.

I highly suspect the smartphone as the issue too. I would def try a setup with just the controllers and no phone first.

Hi, I've been dealing with the same issue with attempting to use Vive wands as trackers in game, without using a phone as a hip tracker. The wand-trackers are fully functional outside of B&S, and set properly as left/right foot in the SteamVR menus. I've tried with and without NALO, to no luck, and this problem has gone all the way back to U7 and persisted even through a windows reinstall. The 'Trackers' button on the character select screen simply does not respond. I really want this to work so that I can smash my feet into my walls and not just my hands...

Seems like it could be the same issue then, of using the wands. I am nearly certain I've seen people do it though... but as for what program or trick they are using to get it work, I can't say. Maybe have a dig around some forums and you might find the answer. If you discover it, please lmk! It would be useful for helping people in the future who have this situation.

Oh, I've been digging around forums since I got my index controllers back in 2019 and first encountered the issue. I'll keep looking and update if I find a solution. Thanks for trying!

Thanks for responding to this thread.
Are you using "Steam controller dongles" or another Headset for mounting the Vive Wands?
JustOneMan Apr 29, 2021 @ 6:40am
My setup is slightly different than yours - I'm using an original Vive headset with Index controllers. I have one steam controller dongle that I've flashed to be a watchman dongle, and one actual watchman dongle. Tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports with no luck. Your wands being picked up as trackers in Steam VR or other programs, I assume?

I will ask around the discord for you guys too, and see if anyone is having fbt with wands.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I did have one problem - My feet were angled very far out to the left for some reason. When I would move via NALO the legs would snap back underneath me, but once I stopped they went back. Maybe a hip tracker will help with that, I don't know.

Seems like you are on the right track though! :praisesun:

Yep. If I hit validate while leaning over it corrects itself somewhat. Not ideal, but I only notice in the mirror or if I look down at my feet. The kicks are still working as expected, they just come from different angles at times. I've even smashed my toe into the wall already!
