Main menu is broken

Almost everytime i get to the main menu im just looking at an image of the main menu that follows my screen as i look around.

Yeah that worked i deleted the game and reinstalled then deleted the blade and sorcery files in documents/mygames/bladeandsorcery
then restarted pc and it worked

Neither this nor "deleting my mods" (Because i never had any mods to begin with) ever worked. game is still frozen and nauseatingly stuck in the center view when i enter. im convinced its a tracking issue or incompatibility with the Valve Index itself.

Same deal here, index user. I've had this issue for a long ass time, reinstalls, mod removal, nothing has fixed it. Attempting to delete any traces of mods and a full reinstall, and if it doesn't work, I'm convinced this is a longstanding issue that for some reason has not been fixed up to this point. Really frustrating since it means I literally cannot play this game anymore.

Edit: I have now done a fresh reinstall, the blade and sorcery folder from my games I deleted, same with it's steam folder, then reinstalled. No change. Tried opening the book before and after getting sent to the void, nothing, book does not get summoned to you or come to you. I noticed you *can* jump to select the first continue option, but after that, jumping does you no good in selecting anything. Also, apparently even non index users are having this issue. As it stands, I literally can no longer play blade and sorcery.

Someone in the discord implied it might be something to do with one's GPU for some reason, I'm currently rocking the gtx 1080 TI for reference.

i had thought about this myself, running RTX 3060TI. tried updating my drivers cause i hadnt done that in quite a few months but that didn't fix anything. ive done the reinstall and i deleted the appdata/locallow files and the documents/mygames files and it still didnt fix anything. if i revert to 9.3 in the beta options i can play last update. it still freezes when i first start in character selection and whenever i move to a new area but it's easily fixed by opening the steamVR pause menu and closing it which seems to reset everything and lets me move again. but when i go back to u10 doing this sends me to the blue void. if i try to use the f5 debug menu to move me to the home im stuck in place with the "press both triggers to calibrate your height" and using the steamvr menu workaround lets me at least move my head in game, but pressing both triggers does nothing and the controls seem to just not do anything. The frustrating part is seeing that this isn't exactly a completely common thing and i cant seem to pin down any common hardware or issues with other people. ive literally never installed mods with this game so im completely out of options.

Hey! The solution to OPs issue is: Ingame, press the steam menu button (or oculus menu button) to open and close the VR menu.

It is a weird old VR bug that has haunted for a long time and has no reproducible origins. I get it myself randomly, but because it doesn't show in the log or have any ways to reproduce, it is unknown what is causing it or how to fix it. I get it in multiple VR games but mostly B&S so maybe it is related to Unity?

Even stranger, sometimes it just simply goes away on its own... Anecdotally, I get it more often when I am using mods, but I have no clue the cause really, nor why that workaround fixes it. It's the worst!

yeah see the issue is in some of us we're having an extra issue where using steamVR menu to fix it sends us to a blue void which im assuming is somewhere off the map in the main menu and the void is the background.

also i found another workaround to our own personal problem. any time you enter a new area or start the game go to your keyboard after clicking on the B&S window, hit f5 to open the debug menu, then f4 and press spacebar twice to cycle through the different views. this seems to reset the camera in the same way the SteamVR menu workaround worked. you'll have to do this any time you enter a new map whether it be the main menu, home or an arena.

Echoing the sentiment of others, this is how I among others USED to fix that issue, but in the current version, attempting to do so in the new main menu, you simply get sent to the void, where you cannot interact with anything, nor really do anything, with no way to get back to the main menu "place" as far as I know.

i dont like how devs can say something is the answer to the question, it causes scenarios like this where the answer is to a seperate issue, not the exact issue we're having here...

yes in some cases that works, but in alot of our cases here that 'fix' just brings us to the blue skybox of emptiness....

I will try this but also only while im in blade and sorcery when i open up the steam vr menu I get like 5fps til I close it

Same problem here. I've never had mods installed, I deleted the my games folder and the locallow one before reinstalling, and it still gives me a broken menu screen that moves to stay in front of me however I look around.

I do have the game installed on a drive other than the C drive, which I think I saw someone saying could be the problem when I last tried to get the game to work. But as my C drives is a little SSD that's basically for the OS, I can't fix this by installing the game to C.

I saw someone said restarting their computer after doing all the other stuff worked.

It did. I can play now.
