Game won't start in steamvr mode anymore (rift s)

Since the update, the game is running in only in oculus mode, which is way laggier in all games for whatever reason for me

Open the steam library and click play and it should ask if you wanna start in steamvr or oculusvr mode. Or start SteamVR and launch the game from there.

Sorry I didn't make it clear in the post above, but I was launching it like this, and it's still in Oculus mode.

Hrm, that is indeed odd, I can't say I had noticed, but might explain my performance since the update has seemed a bit average

Even if I choose the option to start with Steam VR.
I have bad legs and I need to be able to use advanced settings.

Hey guys! That's weird... can you fellas explain the issue a little more? Could you also try remove your mods (if you have any) and then do this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/629730/discussions/2/2450469119947281759/

And if that didn't work, could you try a clean install with this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/app/629730/discussions/2/4366772972631187775/

If it doesn't work after the clean install then it'd be really strange... the patch was only a small bugfix patch. Maybe check SteamVR too and perhaps do a quick verify on SteamVR to be safe?

EDIT: Hey fellas, Kospy is looking into this for you to make sure nothing is up in the update that could be causing this. If he finds something I will let you know!

I had the same issue with the new patch -> it turned out that it was firewall / anti-virus related problem. After excluding the .exe in F-Secure, I was again able to launch the game. Hope this fix works for you!

ive tried deleting all my mods and ive tried launching in oculus mode but it always gets stuck on the first loading screen. idk what to do

Hey, update on where I am.

Tried full clean install and disabling all mods, still seems to want to launch in Oculus mode
Didn't see a difference between SteamVR and SteamVR beta
I only have the default windows defender and changing things in there didn't seem to make a difference.
Also just to make sure, I went back to U9.0 and it worked fine.

I am having the same problem so im just going to play u9 for now.

Yeah I went to the trouble of removing the game, manually deleting all leftover files, including those in appdata and the mygames folder, it simply will not launch with SteamVR anymore. If I go back to v9.0 and launch with steamVR it works perfectly.

I am short, and i need advanced settings to make myself a bit taller but since the new update 9.1 i cant open the steam vr dashboard because steam vr doesnt open with the game. i can play the game but i cant use steam vr. Any Help???
