Hard to do Parry - Riposte technique
Hi, i'm a HEMA and Kenjutsu practitioner, and I found that there are this akward physic making a common and simple real live sword technique not working properly in the game. It's hard to do parry - riposte movement.

Every time I tried to do the sequence (parry to riposte), my sword always stick to the opponent sword for a slight moment and not moving according to my arm movement. I don't know if it's me or the game, but this feel very akward

My feedback is, maybe the Devs could consult with a real sword practitioner on how a weapon works in real combat, so the game could give a better physic for swordplay

Thank you

Awesome! Dec 11, 2018 @ 7:19pm
I don't think this is a 1:1 real life thing. It's only a game with 1 guy working on it. Anyways I'm sure he'll keep on refining it over the months in early access.

Fellow HEMAist here too! Game is amazing but still in EA so there surely are things to improve. Here are some things I listed for future improvements:

*The weapon "mass".
I understood it is there for a reason but I'd hope there would be another way than limiting weapon's speed.

*Faster movements. I'd like to make faster launches towards and backwards. Keeping and ruling the distance.

*1 vs 1. It is rather annoying fighting 5 enemies at once.

*Bow angle when shooting is strange (Vive). Unable to draw to jaw and shoot straight. Needs little adjusting.

*Proper stances for enemies to be in. Adds realism to their parrying and attacking.

@Battlefield3joy: When making your parry try to maintain a distance, close in for the riposte. Close up parrying doesn't work too well yet, but close up hand-to-hand combat does (or hilt bashing) to interupt attacks.

@Marbyg: For launching towards and backwards quickest, try to take advantage of your own VR space (if you have a large enough play area). Use the footwork you learned from HEMA and apply it ingame instead of relying on the trackpad/joystick while in combat.
-And for fighting multiple enemies, try lining them up, circling one enemy to keep that one guy between you and their friends. This will use their crowding against them, and allow you to fight 5 enemies one by one instead of allowing the crowd to surround you.
