I should be fine but it could be mods
I guess what I'm saying is, if your CPU is at stock, looking into overclocking it somewhat may help with performance.
*EDIT* Also running a heavily modded game, around 25 in total, mostly with changes to combat/weapons. I have seen reports that the Sectory mod can cause performance issues, but generally I haven't found adding mods has decreased performance at all.
Ryzen 7 2700X
Nvidia RTX 2070

Game is installed on an SSD
Using Index Headset
Game ran better a year or so ago. I play this game off and on, and I can't remember if its certain mods that causes performance degradation. I only have a few of the Star Wars Mods installed by the way.
I7 5820K 6C12T at 4.5GHZ
RTX 3070
16GB DDR4
And I can basically only do 1v1's cause the framerate goes to like 45 with multiple enemies (yes, motion smoothing is off)
Could be mods ofcourse but the only thing I can think of (since it spawns with the npc's) is medieval megapack, and if that was the culprit I would think more people would complain since it's the most popular mod.
Hey OP, it is super hard to get a solid 90fps because the game is still so WIP and unoptimized, but 45fps is the fps for reprojection. If your headset cannot manage a stable fps it will cut the frame rate in half and lock it to 45fps to give the user a stable frame rate experience instead of a fluctuating frame rate. It is designed to be of your benefit, but some people hate this. There should be an option in your HMD options to disable it if you hate it.
And as for general performance, do take note that mods can kill performance if they are spamming your console with error logs. You should be sure to remove them before trying to determine how your performance is doing, otherwise you will be just going in circles. When you remove your mods, then do this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/629730/discussions/2/2450469119947281759/
And then for general options some things you can do (sounds like you already may be doing them) are:
Physics quality to low
Persistent bodies to 1
MSAA to off
Render Scale (only if you are still struggling) to 0.75
I'm on a quad-core i7, 4790, 3.6ghz. 32GB ram, SSDs across the board (1TB system, 1TB second internal). I'm on a GTX 1660 Super which works perfectly for most things, including Half Life: Alyx, but I definitely had issues with B&S until those tweaks.
Also, be sure to remove the Blade and Sorcery folders inside "My Games" (in MyDocs). That helped, too. Something obviously wacky with the Saves folder or whatever.
I absolutely love this game. Playing on a Quest 2, using Virtual Desktop (SteamVR version, which I think is the only one). I look forward to all the bugs being worked out.
Great! Yeah the save folders is my #1 go-to thing to try first on performance. The issue is usually mod related, and one of the hard things about having a mod supported game. If the mod creates console errors, it can end up creating an error loop that spams the console and gradually slows your game. Even if you remove the mod, it can keep spamming errors because the save data has mod information. So it just depends on the mod. However sometimes the save game can give issues without mods when simply upgrading from old versions; one of the quirks or Early Access. Although at least this issue should not happen when we reach full release.
I didn't have to remove the folders when launching the game via "Oculus" (when clicking PLAY inside Steam-- it gives you the option to launch it either way)--- instead of "SteamVR", which is nice. But launching via SteamVR definitely needs that folder deleted.
This game is so fun but it's sending me down rabbit holes on google, during my breaks from it, in trying to get the best graphics and performance balance.
