cant level up

i have more than 12 green cristalls in my inventory but still cant level up. it says i only have one crystal but i have much more

how do you have 12 green crystals, when you're only able to get 6 by the time of finishing CH, i doubt you've got through the whole of the progression mode without increasing your skills.

You "level up" by progressing through the game, you need 2x of the same crystal and combine then (holding trigger) and itll merge them into a T2 and T3 core crystal

ok...i have 4 t2 fire crystall but the game still says i have 1 -.-

You only need one t2- not.. 4...

It goes 2x T1 crystals > 1x T2 > then you can take 1x T1 and 1x T2 and combine to a T3, make sure to throw it into the skill tree (spiny boy)
the Crystals to the right of your money (top right of inventory) is your crystal shards, not your cores

At no point does the tutorial or anything else aside from a vague drawing (and that doesn't tell you to "click" them) describe how to merge the primary gems. At first I thought you needed 3 since putting 2 in the stone altar didn't do anything extra. But 3 didn't work either, so I found this thread.
