Getting Around Shields

What strategies are like, actually fun for dealing with enemies carrying shields?

Shields are mostly just horribly frustrating and boring to deal with because, whatever weapon I'm using, the best and only option usually is to just obliterate their legs or stab straight through their shield and into them.

Ideally would be to get a stab straight through their shield and into their arm to force them to drop the shield (it will never be picked up again) but that's really tricky to get and often leaves you open to the AI just wildly swinging at you cuz you're unguarded. It's inconsistent to say the least...

And attacking their right side is annoying at best, if you are unlucky enough to stab their sword arm they just drop their dumb weapon and then run away, which is annoying.

So really credit to whoever programmed the AI to block perfectly with shields but what can I do to get around em?

Crossguard of sword -> hold it over the shield so it gets a hold -> Yank downwards -> stab enemy

Axe in one hand, drag the shield down, attack with the other weapon

Swing a big hammer as hard as possible.
Half joking. iirc, gravity can knock them off-tempo and give you an opening.
Most of the time I just finesse my way around their shield.

the way god intended, big blunt thing go smash. if you want to fineness it they usually dont lower shields to guard there legs, weapons with a hook like axes can snag shilds so you can pull them out of the way or mordhau or reverse gripping swords can also hit over shields
