Blade & Sorcery
any suggestions for 2 handed weapons?
so, i like the idea of using a spear or a 2-handed axe/sword, but i think it feels kind of odd in this game. i've tried it in other games and have not had this issue, but i would like to know how you guys do it?

I position my hands to where i'd hold it in real life, but it feels odd swinging when my hands are physically not holding anything together and just two free floating controllers

using htc vive

There aren't any suggestion aside from getting used to it. Dane Axe, Two-Bladed staff and Claymore are very powerful and are easier to control than one-handed weapons. Spear is decent, but you can do same things with the bladed staff that you can do with a spear and have two pointy ends instead of just one.
Dane axe is the best 2 handed weapon in my opinion, I feel like the hero from for honour
I feel the next step in vr gaming is some kind of device that lets you "click" your two controllers together for better rifle and 2-handed-whatever-movements.

A carpenter-buddy of mine is alredy thinking about building smth from wood, but it's not so easy :P
Just practice. Keep in the back of your mind where your hands are supposed to be on the handle, and practice slowing your hand movements a bit to emulate the weight of the weapon. For instance, when swinging a maul, you must *pretend* the actual weight is in your hands. Not only does this help increase the effectiveness of your impacts, but doing it slower helps your strikes become more accurate.

Also, putting your supporting hand into the swing with polearms often leads to sending your foes flying, I find.
This may not help much, but for an axe or maul, when swinging downward press the trigger on your upper hand, this will have it slide down the handle as you swing which makes it feel a bit better for me personally.
I found this to be super easy with the vive wands, I just put the handle of one through the ring of the other and instant two hand mode, just hold down triggers for ingame hands to match and it made it super satisfying.
Now that I'm using index controllers I can't do that and I can't stand to use two handers.

What is it that makes this game in particular feel odd? It feels like the "two free floating controllers" issue would come back in any game where you use two hands for the same object. I.e, every VR game that doesn't force all weapons into being one handed.

As for fighting games like this one: With Vive, you can put the bottom of one controller through the ring on the top of the other one. If the spacing is too small, you can easily modify it with creativity and anything from toilet paper rolls to 3D-printing.
I prefer two handed swords, firsttly claymore types and secondly longswords I like a not too big type of claymore so I stick with the default Templar esque Longsword. It's all about getting used to your weapon type and how the motion controls affect your swing, once you get the hang of that you can start doing some moves a lot easier.
I myself prefer practicing some of the Warden's executions from For Honor.

For me it is tremendous fun learning how to wield weapons in real life by using them in game,
I find a lot of fun in researching different combat styles with types of weapons.
Once I learn enough about fighting I plan to try to incorporate many techniques into my own fighting style, this is one reason that this type of game can be dangerous though haha.

You're able to practice fighting moves and train yourself with this game, it's one reason I love it.
Would love to see a PoleArm, i love them

I wonder though how effective it would be.
I mean. ANY fighting experience is better than none. Except for maybe those hoax arts where you're disabling your enemy with energy.. xD

The thing with this game is that the AI doesn't use very realistic fighting. They fight a lot like in the movies. Flashy moves that you can read easily in a fight. Like.. When they spin, just stab them in the back. Done.
Another thing is the weapon handling itself. If you do it realistically yourself, fine. But you don't have to. When holding a two handed weapon, you can just keep one hand still while moving the other one and you'll still be able to get good force and rotation.
A friend of mine, her first time in VR.. She got a little tired towards the end of the night. She started messing around and at one point she found out that.. Laying down on the floor and playing B&S is OP, since the enemies can't hit you.

In any case.. I've actually thought about starting HEMA. Would be fun to see what works and doesn't work in translation from reality->game and game->reality :D
How cool would it be to have interlocking controllers? Just sayin',
Some weapons allow me much more freedom of movement and other feels like I'm locked into a certain way of being able to move.. Like some of my greatswords in in the midevil pack I'e got.
2h maces are super overpowered imho. You can punch the enemies out of the arena. Hiting with a powerful blow upwards makes them fly like 100 feet high.

thats actually a good point. Most people have a totaly wrong illusion how real effective sword fighting looks like. Its totaly different as what you see in the movies or at those middle age shows in european countries. Fighting for a show and fighting for life is a total different story.

When youre fighting for the show you swing the weapon around and perform acrobatic combos. This looks spectacular but would be deadly in real fight. It makes you tired quickly and predictable. You will just get stabbed. In real fight they would not swing the weapon around. Instead holding the stance for optimal defence, watching each other and trying to fall quickly into enemies defence targeting weak spots. Eventually perform quick counterattacks. Real fight doesn't look as spectacular as in the movies. It looks boring most of time with only few strike attempts. And its over quickly as soon one of the contrahents lands a good hit.
