Any mod to improve NPC and AI ?

I just got the chance to play with this today.

Last night, I could go 1=1 with escalating skill NPCs and beat them. I did it twice last night using the Dory and the Dagger Shield from the Medieval Weapons MegaPack.

This afternoon, with this mod turned on, I got killed in the 12th fight and I am winded and sweating like a pig. :D

AI is MUCH more challenging, at least without me using magic, and the workout is much more vigorous.


I'm gonna have to up my game, a lot!

Tough AI looks pretty good. I've recommended Bossanova's mod, but it's currently out of date. One other thing that really helps is to remove parry recoil from NPCs. I forget how to do that, but it's just a single value to change IIRC. You can't just lazily put your weapon in the way of attacks after that :lunar2019coolpig:

None that do a good job. The problem is, not only does AI need a complete revamp but so do NPC animations. An animation mod would actually improve the combat far more at this point. There was one solid attempt at this, but it has long since been abandoned.

Bossanova's mod heavily tweaks animations. Although animations with shielded enemies are quite buggy, you can choose to not fight shield opponents. Also, opponents still swing their weapon most of the time regardless if it's a thrust blade. It's the best balance I've seen between difficulty and practicality. Bossanova's mod seems to be an ongoing effort with more promise in future updates.
