Steam VR mode vs Oculus mode?

When the app starts up, what is the difference in Steam VR mode and Oculus mode? Running the game with Virtual Desktop using a Quest 2, no idea that those 2 choices are about.

Oculus mode is made for oculus headsets, and all I know is that Steamvr has caused me endless amount of issues with my games as a Rift and Rift S user, so I just recommend oculus mode.

I also have a Quest 2 and I use Airlink with Oculus mode on everything I own due to it working on all the games I own, SteamVR gave me issues while the Oculus platform did not.

Sorry for the slow reply -

Use Oculus mode if you have an Oculus headset to utilize the Oculus API.

Use Steam mode if you don't have an Oculus headset and need to use SteamVR .

So in OPs case, use Oculus API since you have a Quest.

The OP says he's using Virtual Desktop to play wirelessly instead of AirLink. Knowing this, do you still recommend Oculus mode? Even for those using Virtual Desktop in 2024?
