Combat feel busted for anyone else?
Aside from the enemies jumping at you every other attack, does the combat just feel weird to anyone? For example Id hit them but because my hand dared to tap their sword id lose 25% of my health, or the most recent example i experienced, i punched a dude while i had roughly 75% health and died instantly even though they didnt attack me nor was i impaled on their sword after attacking them.

The combat does feel busted for me. I was sleeping on this game until there was something other than sandbox and I pounced on it once U10 was announced, honestly I can't quite wrap my head around this being one of the Steam VR top sellers. Just touching the enemy's weapon while it's still and lowered, for example, if I'm going in for a stab, will hurt you. The lunges are repetitive and cheesy, not being able to really run (I tried swinging my arms around, didn't do much) makes closing in on ranged attackers a slog, the same hit can decapitate a guy, or can just graze them, collisions feel janky, with enemies often phasing through me, my weapon straight up disappearing from my hands, stabs being kind of surprisingly hard to aim in terms of where your sword is pointing, and honestly, Survival doesn't feel very thought out, either.

I was hoping there would be some kind of colosseum league mode where you would get to go toe to toe with actually challenging enemies one on one or something of the sort, but even Dungeon Mode seems to rely on fighting REALLY dumb 1v1 battles and then overwhelming you with a bunch of dudes you won't hear coming because the only way the game can aspire to threaten you, even without magic or slo mo, is to hit you from behind, from afar, or Stalingrad your ass with 3 guys at the same time. I'm hoping that mods will solve some of the problems once they come up to u10, but the base game does feel MUCH more janky than the Steam reviews and the fame the game has garnered would indicate, which is quite disappointing.

For the same price h3vr aims for a somewhat similar kind of experience and the amount of content, modes, and particularly polish is night and day. Granted, h3vr is not about contact fighting, but there aren't even any sort of binds or deflects or anything. If anything, blocks tend to fail consistently, as well. I mean Early Access as it may be, for a game in one of the last legs of development it is quite a letdown in the one aspect it should do right.

This new update is trash, and I can’t play for more than five minutes without wanting to quit. I honestly can’t believe that this is supposed to be forward progress. They should roll it back
This update certainly has issues. I kicked someone's shield and it instantly killed me, even though their weapon was by their side so there's no way I was stabbed. After I died my foot lost gravity and it floated as if it wasn't attached to my body, but it was still connected, so the vertices stretched from my leg (now on the floor) to my floating foot, about half a meter off the ground. It feels like going near an enemy is a death sentence sometimes.
Unfortunately you'll be hearing from the simps soon, defending this game's garbage combat, and stupid attack animations that the AI have. The only people that like this game are kids and weird nerds that want to feel like some kind of hero because they can defeat braindead AI.
Have you tried GITTING GUD?

But seriously, the combat is super jank and I'm hoping options and fixes will come soon. Sword wiggling should not be a more viable strategy than actual swordplay.

That's pretty much how it's always been, unfortunately. Problem is that since you fight 1-V-1 and 1-V-many you have to find the best middle ground for balancing both. This game is obviously more balanced for 1-V-many fights as 1-V-1 is essentially no contest.

I'm sure that they could make the enemies much more defensibly skilled, but in the 1-V-many fights things might become too hard to handle with all of your attacks being easily blocked and countered. I'm sure there's a way to do it, so it would be nice to see in the future, but it's just not a super simple fix.

nah, have you even tried to play the game the way it's meant to be played? you need to use slowmo, magic, grabs, jumps. sounds like all you're doing is trying to do HEMA. this game is meant to be played like a fantasy sword fighting game. come on man
And yes combat does feel busted at the moment. Nowhere near as enjoyable as pre-patch and not just because of the lunge attacks. I havent put my finger on it.. but for example.. my large 2 handed sledge hammer take 3-5 hits to kill someone when I'm straight smashing their face with it while they lay on the ground ... Um ... who tested this? The weapons flying out of my hand when I stab someone or attack armor is very very annoying as well. Its so bad I didnt last 5 minutes in my last game. Its just so buggy now.

Yea, well the simps don't talk about it like normal people. You're either a simp for the devs, or a hater of the game in their eyes.

I've also felt this but I thought it was like this before the patch too. Weapons drop from gravity faster than you can swing downwards with them.

I believe there's a setting you can change from "drop" to "block" if the weapon gets too far from you though I've yet to change that too.

Just got killed at full health by an enemy walking into me, they didnt attack or stab me, just walked into me. To which my body began to spin violently at one of them before going to space. I think thats enough BnS until they fix whatever did that
