I wouldn't want to use literal cheats to make it possible.
The "Regular" experience seems a bit off balance.
As the stealth mechanic is not properly implemented yet, you're bound to be caught, and then you have 5+ enemies attacking you at the same time, most are armored and intentionally circle around you so you can't even see them attack you half the time.
Also, may be missing something but i couldn't find a way to heal in that mode, making it even harder.
have you tried walking out of said circle? also you can spawn a health potion in the home and put it on your waist
Didn't know you can bring it with you, that's a good tip, thank you!
And avoiding the circle isn't that easy when it's an closed space or not too much movement available.
Just in case you didn't know: This works with weapons, too.
Try leading the group around and attacking any that try to get past your or attempt to flank, so long as they don't get behind you they can be controlled but don't dawdle, attack whenever possible to even the playing field.
This would, of course, be possible if the enemy wasn't constantly jumping in close enough to gum you every 2 seconds.
Instead, use the gravity spell and slow motion and whatever other OP tactics you have other than choppy choppy meat grinder mode. Apparently that's the way this game is meant to be played now.
Thank you for the tips, it's upsetting that i need to resort to pretty much cheesing the combat in order to have a chance, instead of just having fair sword combat engagements.
Since the update... all Combat feels slower. Mainly because enemies seem to instinctively sidestep, or back away, whenever you so much as raise your weapon. In U9, sure; they tended to back off 'WHEN YOU SWING, OR THRUST' but now it feels like any time you move your weapon, they are instinctively dodging, which makes tactical combat less effective.
Sure, 'use all your abilities' seems like an easy fix, but even doing this, doesn't resolve the problem. Don't believe me? Do a pure Sword run, using any weapons you can pick up, and magic, and slow mo; vs using a Mace with the same stipulations. You will likely notice the MACE run is easier; because the Mace allows quick effective kills on ALL enemies, while the sword struggles with leather and plate armor. It makes sense, yes... but if one option is objectively better, you're going to use that option all the time. For the sword to deal with the others, you either need to hit specific weak spots, or have a tier that allows flame imbuing, and then you could imbue the mace to do more damage, making it an even better option. And in regards to that, just use Gravity 100% of the time, and you will clear any level easily. Being able to blast enemies of cliffs makes the mode rather mundane and easy; and it doesn't have the problem of dealing with questionable hit detection.
Speaking of Tiers, I like the concept of them, but currently they don't seem to do too much. All I know is, lower numbers are worse, so throw them at people, but never keep them.
I did find stealth to be a lot of fun, as being able to sneak up and stab enemies for a quick kill is lots of fun... but, any area with multiple enemies, just turns off this function, unless they are far enough apart to sneak up on. Also, enemies can hear your walking sound, but they apparently can't hear their friends screaming as you slit their throats.
One thing I can't understand, is damage seems to be a lot more common. Enemies seem to have some form of collision damage, as touching their non-attacking weapons, hurts you. This isn't that big a deal, and it occasionally happened in U9 too, but it was rare there. Now, I often struggle in close range fights without taking some form of damage. If the enemy has a shield, stay the hell back; Shields apparently take like half your health randomly if they touch you. And let's just say that the enemy lunge attacks have some... janky hitboxes... they are possible to dodge, and counter, but; if you jump and swing at enemies like they do to you; you'll often take tons of damage in response.
Lots of other mechanics have been improved, like climbing (at one point, I jumped across a courtyard and scaled a wall to reach an archer hassling me, and this was much better in U10). Speaking of which, the new game mode DOES make Archery practical, as having a ranged weapon is very useful against patroling, predictable enemies. Unlike in Arena mode, where all enemies just barrel right at you; Archery was too slow to be practical there.
I have mixed thoughts towards this update, but I understand, since it's new. It will take time to fine tune this kind of stuff, but that's why our comments and criticism is so important. It tells them what needs work.
Playing tactically sound when outnumbered is not cheesing.
Any "fair" swordplay 1vs5 will go south, fast!
Ask anyone with experience in fighting: even if Bruce Lee and Walker Texas Ranger married and had a baby which got trained by the Hulk - you don't take on more than 2 enemies (max!) if you have any choice.
If you haven't got a choice: play it smart.
combat wise i was fine... i used a mix of magic and sword play.... gotta be smart with the tools offered dont forget you CAN go in with pre-summoned weapons so if your good at
getting in and grabbing them pop out a knife and shank em...
Expect that most encounters are 1vs5+ unless you somehow manage to stealth through it..
Then you need to play it even SMARTER!!! XD
Look, I think the game is pretty hard now, too. I rarely complete a dungeon. But frankly, i wouldn't want it any other way!
I never tried the dungeons on low difficulty (jumped in at difficulty 2/3 and enjoyed the new challenge), so i don't know if it's much easier then. But i am so happy actually having to think about issues like "will i take out that archer over there with a fireball First before revealing myself? Where is a doorway that i can easily defend with shield/spear?"! I enjoy this so much more than the "god-mode" this game used to be.
Difficulty should be adjustable so everybody can find the experience that suits them. Anyone here tried "easy" for comparison?
That's all well and good but as everyone loves reminding everyone else: this isn't a HEMA sim. Furthermore I don't play blade and sorcery to just run away from fights or use OP magic spells and wild swinging to cheese the dumb AI.
It's either neither a hema sim or a "You need to use all options to survive fights" it's a game where you could, in the past, choose to do a dual knife run, or an all magic run, or a combination of both. Now it seems the only option is to use magic and maces or you die 60-80% of the time.
Some people enjoy the new attacks and more cautious AI, and I do to, just not to the level it's been boosted where constant lunge attacks from out of nowhere make actual swordplay redundant. If this game doesn't allow actual swordplay what's the point of it?
