Blunt weapons underpowered?
Am I the only one who feels bladed weapons are stronger than blunt weapons? The maul looks like it would be awesome at crushing skulls and crunching bones, but in practice, it isn't and I'm better off just using the longsword.

Any tips on how to better utilise them?

Well you might guess that I'm a sword guy. But I use random weapons quite often and have not noticed this. What update are you on? If you have not opted into any beta, you're on 8.3

I'm playing on the 8.4 beta, yeah.

Can't fault swords; they work great, it's just the maces and such that feel underwhelming.

Yeah if you dont hit them in the head then they are pretty weak, but one solid hit to the head and they get stunned and drop their weapons.

Yeah if you don't hit them in the head then they are pretty weak, but one solid hit to the head and they get stunned and drop their weapons.

Which then raises the other issue; even if you do knock them to the ground and make them drop their weapons, you still have to bonk them another couple of times to finish them off, whereas something like the longsword can kill with one good slash to the head or neck.

I dunno, maybe my technique is off?

yeah they somehow survive 3-4 bonks to the head with the mace

really good against heavily armored fellows, especially if you sweep the legs
It would be much better if they added more gore associated specifically with blunt weapons. Bruise decals, caved-in skulls, etc. Just something to make them feel better to use.

I've found that the Flanged Mace and other mace work very well if you have enough velocity on your swings. I can reliably 1-2 shot most enemies to the head, and generally ragdolls them if I hit them elsewhere, though you may or may not have enough space to comfortably swing that hard/fast (I sure as heck don't! :lunar2019laughingpig:)
